Post subject: | Add-Ons |
I recently purchased the Oblivion Game of the Year Edition for PC through Bethesda, and was wondering if there was any way to acquire and download the other add-ons not included in this edition. The add-ons included are Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles, and from what research I've done it doesn't appear that I can "officially" download the 8 other add-ons (Horse Armor, Orrery, Wizards Tower, Thieves Den, Mehrunes Razor, Vile Lair, Spell Tomes, or Fighters Stronghold). I've seen that there are other editions of the game that include all of the add-ons, but am unsure of whether purchasing and installing any of these would force me to start my game over after already having investing a significant amount of time in my current profile. Any Insight or Info on how to acquire these add-ons would be appreciated! |

It looks like the only way to purchase the extra content now is to buy the Game of the Year Deluxe version from either GOG or Steam-- unless you want to buy the Elder Scrolls Anthology. The UESPWiki mentions an incompatibility between the Steam versions of Oblivion and the original DLC content that was purchased from either Bethesda's Online Store or Direct2Drive, but I don't know whether purchasing the Steam version and copying the extra DLC content into Bethesda's version would work. If the Steam version is "special" and therefore incompatible with the other versions in some way, then your best bet might be to purchase the Deluxe version from GOG, install it in a separate location from the Bethesda version, copy your saved game(s) from Bethesda's version to the GOG version, and see if you're able to load and play your saved game(s) without any issues. If you can, you could delete Bethesda's version-- or just keep it installed if you prefer. It stinks that Bethesda doesn't include the extra DLC content in their version, and no longer lets you purchase it through their store. It's almost like they've disowned the extra DLC content! |

The minor DLC are only available for separate purchase for Xbox 360 nowadays. Steam or GOG Deluxe Edition are your only options for purchasing them on PC; I would recommend you go with GOG since it's the only DRM-free release of the game. Take pity on the poor PS3 players who never got any of the minor DLC! |

I will say I got my DLC to work with different versions of the game, but that was with some finagling. |
