Now that most of us have at least seen Skyrim's new facelift, what would you think if Bethesda did an Oblivion remaster? I personally would love it. Just seeing all of the different environments and cities and dungeons would be really cool. Not to mention it'd be fun to go through Oblivion again.
Oh quick disclaimer. I know an Oblivion remaster is probably (definitely) not going to happen, but hey we can dream.

Are you familiar with the TESRenewal Project?

They're using the Skyrim engine and assets to rebuild Morrowind (Skywind) and Oblivion (Skyblivion).

Oblivion is only ten years old. That sounds like a lot of time in video game years, but it hasn't really aged that much. Some of the mechanics and a few graphical nitpicks need to be addressed, but if there isn't a mod to fix those already I'd be damned surprised. I think Oblivion is fine the way it is, if you like that kind of game. There's also the issue that Oblivion isn't nearly old enough to warrant a remaster or a remake. It still runs pretty much fine on modern systems, especially if you have the Steam version. The only reason Skyrim got a remaster is because it's such a great cash cow; the difference in success between the two games is significant, to say the least.

If anything I would peg Morrowind for the next remaster, but that's probably never going to happen. The reason is that Morrowind is such a different game, set in a very alien world, and its mechanics would be so foreign to modern gamers it's very seriously not worth the money... unless they included it in some kind of pack like the Elder Scrolls Anthology, which would be kind of awesome. It's a shame too because with some minor graphical updates Morrowind would be a damn fine game even by modern standards, but the gameplay is just not what the market majority are into, and I think Oblivion suffers from the same issue as well.

Skywind and Skyblivion are still going? I thought they were kind of left to rot a while ago...
I guess I'll have to check them out!

Personally, now that I've bought Skyrim Remaster, I'm pining for them to do Oblivion. Even if it is something fleeting to refresh it, like 343 Industries did with the MasterChief Collection, where they just loaded new textures/visuals onto it. (Yes that's a very reductionist way of putting it, and I'm sure all the game geeks will come out and say that's NOT what they did, but essentially, yeah.)

I would very much prefer an Oblivion with the graphics and details as that of Skyrim, even Vanilla would do. Same for Morrowind.

I actually believe that the graphics of Skyrim were already top level and beautiful and needed no enhancements and yet some mods only enhanced the looks of it. This is the reason I love Skyrim besides the songs.

As of Oblivion, I really love the armors and surrounding textures and want to see them in Skyrim. In mean Oblivion gives you a chance to be a Knight in Shining Armor (Yay!)

Yeah, I preferred Oblivion's more medieval European "theme" to Skyrim's viking/scandinavian feel.
