Been a while since I've posted anything in this thread...

Seryna Vandori powered through the remainder of Oblivion's main quest. I was being as cheap as usual during the quests where Martin is set as unessential (he was disabled when the battle around the Great Gate site started. I disabled AI detection in the final bits in the Imperial City on the second time through). It doesn't really matter, though. It was just done to avoid reloading if Martin happened to get himself killed. Which he did anyway.

First time through the Imperial City in a long while. Martin was just standing there and taking blows while smiling for no good reason. Of course, I couldn't get to him through the massive group of Imperial soldiers and Daedra. My computer took that moment to lag and Martin died. Reload. That's where I disabled AI detection.

Now that Seryna has finished the main quest, she is supposed to be entering a period of mourning (for the loss of both of her parents and Martin), so I think I'll take the time to finish her leveling before moving onto the Arena and the Shivering Isles.

I was considering adding Knights of the Nine to her list of things to do, but I'm not sure what regard she holds the Divines in after the events in the Imperial City. I doubt she would be all that pleased. The Arena itself is intended for her to vent all the sorrow and fury she held after the last battle of the Oblivion Crisis. I doubt she ever sheds it, though. I can see her being a bit crazy by the time she reaches Sheogorath. Never mind when she takes his place.

Hmph. I might have some revising to do. Her background seems to require some tweaking.

Few days ago I bought the game on Steam. It's been something like 5+ years since I last touched Oblivion. Earlier today I played the game for a little bit just to test it works fine on my machine, ah it was good to see that cinematic again!

Next step is coming up with a new character to play. Ages ago I came up with an Orc Shaman idea but never had the chance to use it. Like a barbarian but also uses restoration magic to buff themselves up before a fight, sort of like whipping themselves up into a berserker frenzy.

This actually covers about three recent sessions.

Delia Dalomax, a Breton:
1. Doesn't have time to help the Mages Guild with the necromancy problem now that the Blades have her in their employ.
2. Met with Baurus and did "The Path of Dawn." It took a while, for various reasons.
3. Got the Mundane Ring off of Raven Camoran.
4. Went to Cheydinhal to pursue the Mythic Dawn cult.

Long version. Contains spoilers for "The Path of Dawn."
Spoiler:
The Real Delia Dalomax, Chapter 26

The next morning, Delia Dalomax rode for the Imperial City on Delia's Prior Maborel's Paint Horse to meet Baurus at Luther Broad's Boarding House. The journey was slow and left a trail of dead monsters and bandits from Bruma to Aleswell, and plus a couple more beasties at Fort Empire for good measure. She checked into the King & Queen Tavern at around 4am.

After sleeping a few hours, Delia ate breakfast, traded in the Market District, and went to the Arcane University to get her weapons charged (The Mystic Emporium was a bit low on filled soul gems). While at the U, Delia ran into Raminus, who officially promoted her to Journeyman (I guess someone forgot to ask about advancement after completing "A Mages Staff"). He also said he had a task for her. "With all due respect," Delia said, "unless it's related to the Emperor's assassination or the Oblivion gates, I can't help at the moment. I'm sorry."

But she did speak with Julienne and bought some refined frost salts, having finally read the book that Julienne recommended. But further progress seeking Garridan's Tears will have to wait, as it is low priority.

After enjoying a lovely afternoon sitting outside making poisons, Delia went to Luther Broad's that evening. There she helped Baurus take down an assassin, and they gained a clue in the form of Vol. 1 of the Mythic Dawn Commentaries. At Baurus' suggestion, Delia met with Tar-Meena at the Arcane U the next day. Tar-Meena provided Vol. 2, and pointed Delia to the First Edition for further leads. Delia obtained Vol. 3 there and persuaded an in-over-his-head Bosmer dabbling in the occult to reveal the location where he was supposed to make contact with a Mythic dawn cultist.

Though it was late in the day, Baurus was ready to go to the meeting place in the sewers right away. They slogged their way through the sewars, mostly encountering mudcrabs and skeever-rats, all docile thanks to a mod. Eventually, they began encountering hostile goblins, though.

[Oddly, Baurus would not help fight a group of four high-level goblins and summoned headless zombies. He simply walked through the fray and waited while Delia fought them, which took a long time, and he occasionally implored her to try to keep up. He helped in the fights against single goblins, though. Weird. I'm not going to hold it against him that he didn't help fight the group, because it was inconsistent with his normal behavior.]

Eventually, they found the Mythic Dawn meeting place. Baurus went to meet the Sponsor while Delia found a sniping position above. Of course, Baurus was recognized, so they had to fight three cultists. The Sponsor, Raven Camoran, proved a tough opponent - Delia was paralyzed three times because her player was slow to realize that he was reflecting her spells. So she had to run away to heal and re-apply poison to her dagger. Eventually, Raven was defeated. It turned out that he was wearing the Mundane Ring. Very nice. I suspect that Delia will wear it the rest of the game.

Delia took Vol. 4 from Raven and Baurus left for CRT. Delia explored around a bit and looted the Mythic Dawn quarters before leaving the sewars. Expecting it to be night-time, we were surprised to find that a full day had passed. It was already afternoon.

Exhausted and disgusting, Delia went back to the K&Q to bathe in the unseen bathroom, eat, and sleep. We read the Mythic Dawn Commentaries to try to find out the cult's location, but couldn't make heads or tails of the insane ramblings. Fortunately, Tar-Meena provided a clue to deciphering them, and soon we had a location (still had to use the wiki to find the magically-appearing map, because I have shadows turned off...).

With the afternoon free, Delia went to the Arena and broke even betting on the Blue Team.

The next morning, she left for Chorrol for more personal fitness training with Honditar. She spent the night at the Mages Guild and rode for Cheydinhal to pursue the Mythic Dawn. The trip was eventful - bandits and ogres - and she made it to Cheydinhal that night. After trading the next morning, she was ready to find the Mythic Dawn.

This post contains spoilers for the quests "Dagon Shrine" and "Spies".

I ended up doing the "Dagon Shrine" quest twice. The first time, my character sniped her way into the shrine room without talking to anyone, not even the doorman, and then sniped Mankar Camoran with a poisoned arrow while he was giving his speech. He got away, and I received a message saying "Mankar has left the building" or something like that. But then I read on the wiki that interfering with Mankar's exit can cause a major problem later on. I don't think that what I did would have messed up the questline, but figured "better to be safe than sorry", so I did the quest again, the second time more by the rules.

Also, I couldn't keep Jeelius alive the first time, since he ran ahead and got his scaly self killed. The second time, I just set him to Essential, something I have no qualms about doing, considering the stupidity of the NPC's in the face of danger, and there's no way to tell him to wait behind while you clear the path. After releasing him, I didn't see much of him again, but got at least four messages saying "Jeelius is unconscious". Guess I'll find out later if he made it back to the Temple of the One.

Anyway...

Delia Dalomax, a Breton:
1. Hiked to the Lake Arrius Caverns looking for the Mythic Dawn shrine.
2. Had an opportunity to end the Oblivion crisis, but failed to kill Mankar Camoran.
3. Shot several fleeing cultists in the back "for Lord Dagon!". They really don't understand the concept of a rally cry.
4. Freed another Argonian, which is becoming somewhat of a habit. I wonder if she picked up that habit when she was an Imperial Cultist in Morrowind (backstory).
5. Got the Mysterium Xarxes as a consolation prize for Jauffre.
6. Is trying to make Nirn safe from Mankar Camoran's awful prose by hoarding every copy of Mythic Dawn Commentaries she finds.
7. Rooted out some Mythic Dawn spies in Bruma. Well, sort of. One of the spies was killed by bandits. Delia killed the bandits anyway.
8. Found out that... oh no!... the Mythic Dawn is plotting to attack Bruma. She just bought a house there, so we can't let that happen.

Long version
Spoiler:
The Real Delia Dalomax, Chapter 27

Delia Dalomax, a Breton, hiked north to Lake Arrius and found the entrance to the caverns where the Mythic Dawn has their shrine to that Oblivion-gate-opening prick Mehrunes Dagon. The hike was pleasant.

Inside the cavern, Delia thought about sniping the cultist at the door, but, acting on a hunch that went against her nature, decided to speak with him instead. After all, according to the Mythic Dawn Commentaries, she would likely be welcomed at the shrine for persevering to find it. The doorman told her to speak with Harrow, who wanted to take her possessions. That was not cool with Delia, as she felt that her bow, poisons, and daggers might be useful for what she intended to do once inside.

So Delia and Harrow ended up in an impasse that was resolved with Harrow repeatedly falling to the floor paralyzed while Delia hacked at him mercilessly with a poisoned enchanted dagger named Sparkles. That alerted the doorman, who apparently had little stomach for violence, and he tried to run away. He also did not seem to understand the concept of a rally cry, since he shouted "For Lord Dagon!" as he tried to flee.

So it was for Lord Dagon that the doorman was shot in the back.

Delia sniped and fought her way to the Dagon shrine, where Mankar Camoran was giving a speech to his nitwit followers. Apparently, Mankar is a mesmerizing public speaker, for even Delia couldn't help but listen - unfortunately, that caused her to miss an opportunity to snipe him and perhaps end the Oblvion crisis right then and there. She won't tell Jauffre why Mankar escaped. She had to take on several cultists, which wasn't difficult - their magical attacks were worse than useless, and she was able to mostly evade their physical attacks by running and jumping. Apparently, Mythic Dawn cultists always take the stairs.

When the cultists were dead, Delia freed another Argonian - Jeelius was his name, though he didn't have much too say. Then she took the Mysterium Xarxes, figuring she should at least have something to give Jauffre. As a devotee of the Nine, Delia was happy to see the statue of Mehrunes Dagon collapse under the weight of its own pretension.

The entrance she entered by was blocked, so Delia made her way out through the Living Quarters, killing all the cultists she encountered.

(At one point, while sniping a female cultist, I was reminded of a line from the folk song "Delia's Gone", from which the character's name was taken, and most famously sung by Johnny Cash: "First time I shot her, I shot her in the side. Hard to watch her suffer, but with the second shot she died.")

She also took every copy of Mythic Dawn Commentaries, as she has taken to hoarding those - she wants to get as many of those books out of circulation as she can. Call it censorship, if you want, but Mankar's awful prose has no place in the world, thinks Delia.

Delia lost track of Jeelius and searched the caverns but could not find him. Maybe he already escaped. She left the caverns to find that it was morning again. The walk back to Cheydinhal was so lovely, she stumbled right into a bandit camp and was attacked by a bandit and his dog. She intentionally killed the bandit and accidentally killed the dog by casting, of all things, a Charm spell on it. (She wasn't wearing her Ring of Retribution at the time, so I don't think it died of reflected damage. I don't know what killed it. Weird.)

At Cheydinhal, she traded, prayed, ate, slept... the usual.

Delia left in the wee hours and rode for Bruma on Delia's Prior Maborel's Paint Horse. The trip was somewhat eventful, but she made decent time and was able to ride again for CRT that afternoon.

At CRT, Delia was riding DPMPH to the horse parking garage when Jauffre met her outside. She delivered the good and bad news. After parking DPMPH, she found Martin and gave him the MX. She also saw Baurus, who taught her some fighting tricks - the Blade skill increase is appreciated, and to a lesser extent the Block increase (she doesn't carry a shield, but sometimes blocks with a weapon). The Heavy Armor lesson was lost on her, though.

Speaking with Jauffre again, Delia was tasked with rooting out some spies that had been seen around dusk near the Runestone to the south. Conveniently, it was getting close to dusk, so Delia hiked down to the Runestone, where she saw someone approaching from a distance. That someone saw Delia, too, and attacked her. Delia killed the spy Jearl, and on a hunch, hiked down the road, where she saw the other spy, Saveri, had just been killed by bandits. Not being a subscriber to the philosophy of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend", Delia killed the bandits. Then she went home and engaged in domestic life 'til the next morning.

The next morning, Delia went to see the Countess and Burd. Entering the guards' quarters, Delia apparently interrupted an all night party, because most of the guards suddenly stopped what they were doing and went to bed. Burd gave Delia the go-ahead to search Jearl's house, which she did. There she found Jearl's orders from the now-dead Runa Camoran...

Oh no! The Mythic Dawn is plotting against Bruma. Delia continued by searching the caverns, but found nothing else of interest. She hiked to CRT, where DPMPH had spent the night, and found Jauffre.

I started a new game as well...Jet black Kajiit called Black Tom -- Atronach custom class that has a skill set that should allow max level minus 1.5 (three major skills start at 30, all others at 25).

Been working on my custom Arborwatch home using the Construction Set.

I think it's turning out beautifully. I just need to decorate it with more clutter. Filling the bookcases is a tedious pain in the ass though, and I wish it had a stove and sink.

The Real Delia Dalomax, Chapter 28

Delia Dalomax, a Breton, spoke with Martin. Based on his progress deciphering the Mysterium Xarxes, he tasked Delia with finding a Daedric artifact to use in opening a portal to Mankar's Paradise. He also suggested that Delia read Modern Heretics to find out how to acquire one. It was a pretty good book, and it told how to find the shrine of Azura. That one is closer than the only other Daedric shrine Delia knows about, the shrine of Sanguine (which she has only heard about, from Falanu Hlaalu). So shrine of Azura, it will be.

Delia traveled to Cheydinhal, where an Oblivion gate had opened outside the city. Asking around, apparently Count Indarys' son is inside with his Knights of the Thorn. So Delia entered an Oblivion world for the 18th time - but not before receiving unsolicited advice on how to close an Oblivion gate from some people who'd never entered one even once. Thanks, but we know what to do.

Inside, she eventually found Farwil Indarys and his buddy Bremman still alive and escorted them through, etc. Back outside, she was made a Knight of the Thorn, etc. Back at the Castle, she spoke again with Count Indarys, who seemed like a decent fellow. He was impressed with her patience (uh, yeah, see note below) in escorting his son back from Oblivion. He offered a choice of rewards, and her player chose the Staff of Indarys simply because it is a lot lighter than the Thornblade, and Delia will have to carry her trophy around while she does the Azura quest.

Delia then went to the Mages Guild to rest before she continues north to find Azura's shrine.

---
Trying to get the Knights across the Oblivion world bridge was absolutely maddening. They ran off the sides into the lava at least 20 times in a row. Eventually, I set them to Essential and turned the difficulty down, and kept it that way for the rest of the quest. I just don't have the time or patience to babysit suicidal NPC's the honest way.
---
Due to a new job, I won't have as much time to play and even less time to write about it, so future updates will probably be as short and boring as this one was.

The Real Delia Dalomax, Chapter 29

Delia Dalomax, a Breton, hiked north and eventually found Azura's shrine. There she spoke with the misguided Daedra worshippers and was reminded that she needed to come back around dusk to speak with Azura. At least she remembered to bring glow dust. So she passed the time by hiking into the mountains to harvest thistle and wormwood. She also found a mine. Soon it was time to head back for the shrine.

Hoping the Nine would forgive her, considering the circumstances, Delia provided the offering of glow dust, and Azura spoke. Azura said she knew Delia was coming, and if she wanted to obtain her Daedric artifact, Delia would have to kill some of Azura's faithful that had become vampires. They happened to be in the mine Delia had found earlier. She slept for a few hours at the shrine, trusting that the Azura worshippers there wouldn't try any funny business.

Then she hiked back to the mine and found an Oblivion gate had opened near it. Dagon must be trying to foil the plan. She closed the gate, of course. Then she entered the mine and slaughtered the vampires inside, contracting porphyric hemophilia along the way (eating mandrake root did NOT cure it, but a Cure Disease scroll did the trick).

She returned to the shrine, where the Azura worshippers spoke admiringly of her, and was rewarded by Azura with Azura's Star. Delia wondered if Azura knows that the Star is to be used in a plan to try to end Dagon's invasion. Presumably, Azura would know that because she supposedly knows everything, and she must be OK with it. Regardless, it will be fitting that one of the benign Daedra will play a role in defeating one of the evil ones.

Delia hiked back to Cheydinhal, passing by Lord Rugdumph's estate, and later finding that another Oblivion gate had opened north of town. She got some much needed rest back in Cheydinhal, then returned to close the Oblivion gate.

After some more R&R in Cheydinhal, she rode Delia's Prior Maborel's Paint Horse back to Bruma.

The Real Delia Dalomax, Chapter 30

Delia Dalomax, a Breton, went to Cloud Ruler Temple and gave Azura's Star to Martin. He seemed concerned, saying "I won't ask what you went through to obtain this, my friend. I know all too well the depravity of the princes of Oblivion." She didn't tell him it wasn't so bad. Azura was quite nice and the worshippers at the shrine seemed OK. And it wasn't the first time the member of the Order of the Virtuous Blood had contracted porphyric hemophilia while killing vampires.

Martin then tasked his errand girl with acquiring the next relic he needs for the ritual: Tiber Septim's armor. But then he told her to see Jauffre because an Oblivion gate had opened outside Kvatch. Probably should have told her that first. Anyay, there was a change of plan: Delia was sent to help Burd close the gate and teach him how it's done.

Outside Bruma, Delia, Burd, and his men killed the daedra emerging from the gate. Then Delia entered the gate with Burd and two guards. They closed the gate, but one of the men died inside the Oblivion world. RIP, Bruma Guard.

Mission accomplished, Delia reported back to Jauffre the next day. He told her that Bruma would need help with its defenses and tasked her with recruiting defenders from the other cities.

Just found that stupid Lelles can't sell to my Sees_the_Stars character anymore. No clue why, but chancellor Ocato was pretty mean about giving Allies for Bruma later that same day. Nobody likes Bruma for some reason. Maybe it the cold, maybe it's the. Nords, but I intend to keep Martin safe.

What is your role play reason for giving Azura's Star instead of something much less useful? No enchanted weapons?

^ I'm glad you asked.

Three role-play reasons:
- The character has reservations about trapping souls, and doesn't use soul trap at all. She will, however, purchase filled soul gems and pay to have weapons recharged. My characters usually have a few ethical inconsistencies like that.
- The only other Daedric shrine she knew about at the time was Sanguine's and it's further away from CRT than Azura's.
- The character doesn't like consorting with any Daedra, so if she had to, it would be one of the benign ones. Azura seems like one of the benign ones to me, but I'm not a lore expert. But it seemed fitting (to me) that Azura would play a role in defeating Mehrunes Dagon. I think the writers set it up that way deliberately, since if you read "Modern Heretics" as Martin recommends, the book tells you where Azura's shrine is.

I've kind of gotten away from the use of soul trap with my characters in general, though. My main Skyrim character has been toting around Azura's Star for hundreds of hours of gameplay and has never put a soul into it.

Makes sense. There is/are always Varla stones too.

Another reason for Azura's inclusion in Modern Heretics may be so you can use it as a tool to better your weapons. The story writers may want you to sell a bit of your soul/humanity (by interacting with other/bad daedra princes) to be able to defeat evil. I suppose that hero-myth would be more pagan that the Christian/Hollywood pureheart type hero. Ambiguity gives a player a lot of options.

The Daedra humanoids are immortal so I wonder if the daedic monsters souls are affected the same way doggy and mousey souls are.

Good luck with it.

I think all Daedra souls from Scamps to Xivili are immortal in the sense that when you kill them, they just go into the void until they can take physical form again.

Then I think they can take other forms. Like a Scamp will spend several centuries as a Scamp, then they can upgrade to a Clannfear or something. I draw this conclusion from Barnabas' dialog when he says he wasn't always a dog.

I am still trying to finish leveling Seryna so I can go and do the Arena. At this point, I'm trying to get her acrobatics to 100 (which is a pain in the ass), her sneak to 75, and her illusion to 66. The only one I've got to the required level is illusion. The rest are still behind. Aside from sneak, which is at 71.

So... Seryna did nothing but hop around, harvest a bunch of ingredients, cast one of those light spells constantly, and explore a few dungeons. Mainly Fingerbowl Cave. Or whatever it's called. One of those long caves full of undead.

Less than hour of play time this morning, picked up Oblivion.

Morq, orcress warrior and Champion of Cyrodiil
- After spending some time in her Cheydinhal home, repairing gear and organizing her inventory (she's still carrying like over ten different enchanted rings...)
- walked over to Haerlun's Watch and started investigating the disappearances.
- is still clearing out the cave attached to this quest.

Morq, orcish Champion of Cyrodiil:
- Finished solving the Mystery of Harlun Watch
Hidden:
If you can call it mystery when it was pretty standard kill all mosters in the cave- mission.

- Back at Cheydinhal, Burz told her he has no more contracts to her, and she should go to Azzan.
- And while she was there, she investigated reported corruption Guard Captain Ulrich Leland, that basically just kept her going back and forward inside the town and talking to people
Hidden:
with little breaking and entering and stealing evidence involved.

- She left Cheydinhal and arrived to Anvil. Azzan gave her quest "The Stone of St. Alessia", which sent her to Bruma. On they way, she stopped by in Clavicus Vile's shrine to drop off Umbra-sword and got the Mask.
- After arriving Bruma, she walked around town, checked her statue "Do I really look like that? And what is that pole I'm wearing in my...not even in my hand, it's glued to arm?"
- Stopped by in her Bruma home.

Morq, orc warrioress and Champion of Cyrodiil
- Retrieved stolen stone of St. Alessia and returned to the Temple
- Investigated the actions of certain vampirehunter Raynil Dralas ( A Brotherhood Betrayed- quest she had been stuck with earlier (before Battle of Bruma)). Funny, now that she's Savior of Bruma, everyone likes her and talks to her. Followed the dunmer to a cave, he resisted arrest. Got the treasure it was all about and investigated rest of the cave. Nothing much to see.

Things finally cooled off long enough for me to play Oblivion again. When I reloaded, I continued trying to level Seryna. She has 100 in Illusion already, so she's set for that. She just needs 75 in Security (currently at 70) and 90 in Light Armor (currently at 80). To do this, I have been diving through every dungeon I come across. Though I prefer going through Ayleid ruins. Seryna has managed to gather a lot of Welkynd stones by doing that (I think she has over 300 at this point). She has plenty more enchanted items to sell, too.

Seryna has not done any questing in a while. I think she might have to start again, though, because I'm getting tired of going through the same ruins over and over again.

I would pick the locks in cities to level security, but Seryna is no thief. I'm actually not even sure where the stolen items came from. Same with the trespasses. She did commit a few murders, but I reloaded in every case (which was usually somebody getting in the way in either the battles in Kvatch, Bruma, or the Imperial City).

I'm still trying to level Seryna... At least I've got her Security to 75 now. That just leaves getting her Light Armor to 90 so I can get to level 39.
Then the whole process repeats itself. I'm just going to have to use Speechcraft to increase personality instead of Illusion.

For questing, Seryna did the quest in Bruma involving the "vampire hunter" guy. She has one last quest in Bruma, but it involves getting arrested. Seryna won't do that again.

I have finally got Seryna to level 39... That leaves approximately 10 or 11 more levels to go before I can start the Arena.
To get to level 40, she's going to have to increase her Security to 85, her Speechcraft to 25 (probably through training; hooray for the Unlimited Training mod), and her Light Armor to 100. That should max out her Speed (only at 95 because I didn't watch her Acrobatics/Athletics early on) and her Agility (which is currently at 99). Personality will be left at 95 until level 41. It'll take a Speechcraft of 35 to get there. I'll probably just wind up training it up to 100 since it's a skill I don't really use. Mostly because I don't like that mini-game.

Anyway... Seryna did a whole two quests today. I was wandering around near an Inn (Faregyl? Whatever it's called) when I accidentally encountered the Ogre carrying that Khajiit's jumbo potatoes. Seryna brought those back to her and got some bread in return.

Later, when I decided I needed to get into a fight with something that would strike relentlessly, I ran off to the Crestbridge Camp to do the quest about the Goblin war occurring around Cropsford. Seryna -who doesn't like Goblins- took the messy route and killed every member of each tribe. And took all their stuff, of course.

It still took a while of exploring to get her light armor up. Once it finally did, she switched back to her Ebony armor and ran back to Bruma to empty her inventory (which was at over 1100/800 or so because I really need the items to level Mercantile later on). She got 10 increases in her Destruction skill on the way. Not that it matters since her Willpower has been at 100 for a long time now.

At this point, I've only gotten Seryna's Speechcraft to 25. Her Security is still at 83/85 and I haven't even started her light armor yet...
Destruction, on the other hand, has gone up to 75. Something tells me Seryna won't get much farther before the A-bomb strikes. Of course, I can reset it, but this is still taking a long time.

On the plus side, she has a ton of items she can sell for leveling Mercantile now. Probably not enough, but... It's a start.
She has spent most of her time running through random dungeons. A few days ago, she did the corrupt guard quest in Cheydinhal. I forgot that Ulrich Leland was nude after the defense of Bruma and had a laugh at his expense. I don't think she has done any other quests. I'm just trying to concentrate on the leveling.

Confront the Horrer of Diver Rock first thing.

Today I left the sewers with a very attractive gray-haired Nord shield maiden (Mage birthsign). That was the first major accomplishment. Nords are difficult to make attractive, or even human. From the sewer, she went to Fatback cave to stock up on whisp stalk caps, then to Leyawiin/Amelion tomb for stinkhorn. she dropped off the amulet of kings at Weynon Priory and headed to Bruma. She stoped at Moranda to get a statue and, more importantly, Welkynd stones. At Bruma, she watched two foresters fight, from the dead one she scavenged legionair armor and a silver bow.

With a baker's dozen welkynd stones, and a pouch full of poison made using just the mortar and pestle from the prison/sewers, she headed for her destiny, the Horrer of Dive Rock.

It took a couple of tries to figure out what worked, but then it was repeatable with success more often than not. Poison arrows followed by a continuous stream of flares while standing on a big rock won my shield maiden the coveted Frostwyrm bow, a +15 frost damage Elven bow (w/15 base damage).

The bow isn't impressive if you plan on enchanting your own through the mages guild, and the enchantment will be equaled at level 5 by Health Damage sigil stones or at level 9 by elemental damage sigil stones. But if you are playing a non-mage, putting off the main quest, and or the Dark Brotherhood (Bow of Infernal Frost) it is the best bow to get early in the game (+15 frost/fire/shock bows show up at level 11).

I started with Alchemy at 5, and Marksman at 5, but my Destruction was built up to around 25 by the time of the big fight. My heavy armor was built up in the sewers to about 70. Major skills didn't come into play.

Like Umbra, the Uderfrykte Matron can kill you in a couple of hits.

Seryna is now at level 41. Her attributes have been raised as much as possible. Aside from Speed and Luck, of course. Both of those are going up one at a time.

At this point, I'm concentrating on leveling the minor skills before I finish leveling the major skills. She's basically just been clearing a bunch of dungeons out. Still. That's all I've been doing for ages now. Today was Vilverin. And a bunch of other places. Vilverin was the most recent (just got out, actually). She finally got her destruction to 100. Now it's just hand-to-hand, block, and whatever other skills remain. Some of them are going to have to be trained to 100 since I don't typically use them (Speechcraft, mainly. I usually bribe to get what I want).
