A wiki page mentions order of enchantments on weapons is crucial, stating that the weakness must go after the elemental damage, and I have confirmed this with tests. However, an X-Box player told me that it is a bug in the PC games that was fixed by a patch. The wiki pages are usually pretty good about mentioning patch fixes, so I'm looking for independent confirmation that order no longer matters for most people.

I find it highly unlikely that the PC version experiences any bugs that the Xbox doesn't. The only real discrepancies occur on PS3, since it was outsourced.

He was saying that when he enchants a sword with weakness to frost before frost, the weakness enhances
the frost on the first/same strike...and claims to have tested it to be sure. That does not happen on my unpatched game. Does it happen on your patched game?

How are you even playing an unpatched version of Oblivion? Do you have the original disk? Definitely go get the official patches if you don't want save corruptions.

I have an original disk and haven't had any problems with over a thousand level saves.

I don't think weakness and elemental damage has any order. The only thing is that a weakness does not work until the next strike. So a weakness spell followed by an elemental spell will have increased damage. Combining these two in any order won't have the weakness effect, at least that's how I always understood it.

I don't think this can be resolved without someone with a patched game testing it. The X Box guy said he tested it a lot, and with weakness first the weakness boosed damage on the same strike (strike #1). My testing on an unpatched game shows that with weakness first, the weakness is canceled out on the second strike, which is what the wiki says.

All you need is a weak weapon to enchant and a conjure skeleton. Put a three second weakness on the blade with one second damage and then strike slowly to be sure the magical damage from each strike has a full second to add up to its total possible.

Seriously though, I'd strongly recommend patching your game. At the very minimum, version 1.2.0416 is a must.
