I was surprised that nothing about the ESO 'Ask Us Anything' dev Q&A has been posted around the Forums, to my knowledge, and I believe it to be an oppotunity worth looking into.

Quote:
Learn About the ESO ‘Ask Us Anything’
10.31.2012

Starting next week, we’ll be kicking off our bi-weekly The Elder Scrolls Online 'Ask Us Anything.' Read on for all the details.

Every two weeks, we’ll post a new developer Q&A, called 'Ask Us Anything', where members of The Elder Scrolls Online Team answer your questions about ESO. In order to ensure that each Ask Us Anything is focused and related to the information we’ve released, we’ll theme most of them and request questions about a specific topic. We understand that everyone has many questions about things we haven’t talked about yet—and we’ll get to those topics—but we ask that you please keep your questions about the current Ask Us Anything’s theme.

Our first Ask Us Anything will be about the Ebonheart Pact. If you have questions about the art, design, lore, or anything else related specifically to the Ebonheart Pact, please follow the link below to our Facebook page and leave a comment or send your question via email to community@elderscrollsonline.com. (We’re able to answer questions in English, French, and German.) We’ll pick a handful of questions to answer and feature.

http://elderscrollsonline.com/en/news/p ... s-anything

So what questions do you want to see put to ZeniMax Online?

A link would help, rather than a one-liner ... I could not find such a thread.

Why should I calm down, from a completely calm demeanour? I did not do or say anything which would indicate I was riled up?

I am aware of the Global Announcement you linked to, and the post I made has absolutely nothing to do with it, apart from being on the subject of the Elder Scrolls Online, and being posted on these Forums. You might want to double check the two.

Well, I was joking. I like humor. See, I put a smilie. I know you are calm. Also I edited my post to say it was similar. And third, I agree with you, so to not derail your legitimate thread here's a question: How will you handle the various problems lore wise with some of your alliances?

People telling other people to calm down is my one greatest peeve, particularly on the internet. Nobody knows how another person is feeling or thinking, particularly not when the only form of communication between these individuals is through an exclusively written format, and thus lacking anything substantive in the way of suprasegmental cues.

Nonetheless, I appreciate the effort to stay on track. I do, out of curiosity, have to query though, what problems exactly are you alluding to? If I were a ZeniMax employee I would be scratching my head as to what problems the alliances present in terms of lore, at least, outside the Ebonheart Pact, which I believe has been addressed fairly substantially with the Akaviri Invasion Lore.

Well, I feel that some of the alliances are loose at best, some, like the Breton-Nord-Dunmer, sort of make since to me. But than others, seem to be thrown together for the sake of connecting geological locations. But you're the lore master, not I, so if you say so I'll ask another one similar, How will the different allied provinces interact? I would ask more, but most of mine have already been asked in the other thread.

Belated, but: UESP's personal Q&A is in the announcements, but I believe Duruza was talking about the more general Q&A that will be had.

Yes Avron has it quite correct, although I fully understand how the two might be confused, considering how similar they are at a glance, and the implication that they were the same which has followed this particular thread like a shadow.

Pilaf The Defiler wrote:

I was going to suggest that if anyone wished, I would be happy to post questions on their behalf, although I really am interested in what other people on the forums are thinking, and thus my motives in creating this thread were twofold, firstly to inform people of this new opportunity to question ZeniMax Online, and secondly so I might incite people to share.

To clarify for anyone who is not clear on the difference between what I posted about and what was posted in an announcement (so that this thread might not erroneously be reported as a duplicate in future), the Q&A(s) I'm referring to are a series of specific Q&As each with a central theme, the first being the Ebonheart Pact. The one in the announcements is a UESP exclusive, due to the UESP's status as one of the community's foremost Elder Scrolls fansites, and which is subsequently neither public or possessing a singular focus.

I apologise if I did not make this clear enough in the OP. I had assumed the info I had quoted and linked to was clear enough, but this was a lapse in judgement.

I'd love to know about the leadership of the Ebonheart Pact. Will the Hist play any part? How will The Dunmer respond to taking orders from Argonian commanders? Is there some sort of council leading the pact, representing the views of the respective races?

Funny you mention the leadership of the Pact actually. I'm not sure if you're aware, but ZeniMax Online did release a little bit of info regarding that very subject. The Pact is governed by what is referred to as 'The Great Moot' led by High King Jorunn of Windhelm. His rule is by no means absolute however, as the Pact requires that all major action points be ratified by all three races. I know that doesn't answer your questions fully, but I thought you might be interested to know.

As I said before, I'm happy to submit questions for people as well, if the need arises.

Sounds interesting, might have to go have a look at that.

Another question I was wondering. Why is the Pact named after Ebonheat? Why not Mournhould? Windehelm? Archon? Solitude? Helstrom? Vivec? I'm just naming major cities. But I was wondering why Ebonheart, a city in Vvardenfell over a more central city more accessible to people.

They answered my question about the Tribunal.

Partially.

There's a pretender. Just you wait.

You're thinking of the other Ebonheart.

Ebonheart is the old name for Morrowind, I believe. And the seat of Imperial power in Modern Morrowind.

Nope, but close.

The old names for Morrowind were Dwemereth, Dunmereth and Resdayn.

Old Ebonheart is what you're gonna wanna read about.

Right, right. That page also says the city is gone now. It's just an old capital of Morrwind, like I said above after editing. By the time we see it, it was not so great, and it shouldn't be great now either.

When is "now"?

TESO takes place 1000 years ago. A long time before Arena.

edit: Yes, I realize the lore currently mentions it lost prestige after Dagon destroyed Mournhold, but since it's the capital of the Ebonheart Pact as of TESO it obviously found prestige again.

I highly doubt it's the Ebonheart on Vvardenfell because that city is much more recent, and Vvardenfell is closed to the public as of the second era.

Joruun sounds like a male name to me. How are you pronouncing it? I see it as Joe-rune

I'm pronouncing it Scandinavian.
I'm just saying, since Skyrim seems to draw a wee bit of inspiration from medieval Scandinavia, with all the Arngeirs and Toralfs and whatnot, it seems strange to pick a female name for the King Himself. It's almost like a statement.
Anyway, it's more of a rethorical question and this is OT.

Hey guys, why don't we stick on topic a little? This thread is for the Zenimax Ask Us Anything sessions (not the special UESP one), so let's stick to that. Tidbits like this can go in more general discussion threads in other subforums.

Thank you!
