The discussion about which side we support in the Civil war that is going on in the General Skyrim forum and some of the comments made there led me to think some of you would like this mod.

TEG-Return to Helgen can be found on steam or The Engineering Guilds website.

Its not just another rebuild Helgen mod, although it does do that. Once you finish the Civil War quest line you can become the Military Governor of Helgen and its Imperial military outpost there. There is a long series of quests that deal with being the Military Governor to being a agent for the Penitus Oculatus fighting a cold war with the Thalmore. From there it leads you down the path of learning your Dragonblood heritage and leads ultimately to the Throne.

Your decisions in the vanilla game affect how far you can go in the mods quest line.

Return to Helgen has

Over 200 NPCs

Over 500 new voice lines

Over 28 new quests.
Joinable Penitus Oculatus Faction with Quests
Not Joinable Knights of the Nine Faction with Quests
Joinable Helgen Garrision (Legion and Stormcloaks)
Become Helgen Commander
Become Emperor
Start a War with the Thalmor

For the full details here is the link to the TEG page on the mod, lots more information here than there is room to post on Steams Workshop.

That sounds absolutely fantastic, but I have just one question - how buggy is it? I see that the author mentions several issues, but it doesn't tell me how likely this mod is to break my game completely. I'm not complaining or anything, it's just that every single major mod causes problems, especially when combined with other mods.

The things he is referring too are all minor background objects, voice acting, or such. I have not had any issues with the mod itself, for me everything has worked as it should. I only had one issue early on and it was caused by a glitch in my game not the mod itself.

A couple of simple things to watch for. No other mods that change Helgen in any way. Keep Return to Helgen some where at the bottom of your load order. If you want the Knights of the Nine armor you need to get the mod for it and have it load before Return to Helgen does. Beyond that you should not have any conflicts at all.

Okay, thanks for the info. Right now I'm trying out Civil War Overhaul, which is rather twitchy when it comes to adding anything to an existing save, so I'm going to try later, with a new character. ;)

I looked at the Civil War Overhaul then decided to skip it for now. It just looks too unstable to me. Plus I keep hitting the Skyrim 3.1 Gig memory limit which causes CTD because I have so many mods that add in meshes and other textures. Mater of fact I had to go in and remove about 8 mods that I decided I could live without to make things stable again.

I have very few other mods, so I haven't had any problems with that. And CWO just got another update a few days ago with most of the bugs solved, so it should be much better now, if you'd like to give it a try. ;) My current character hasn't joined the Legion yet, but I'll post about the mod as soon as I do.
