The Champion's Song
A Fourth Era TES Roleplay

The year is 4E10. The scars of the Oblivion Crisis are still young in the hearts of Tamriel, which has cracked and splintered under the loss of its Septim emperors. Reminders of the past still echo throughout the empire in the ruins of cities like Kvatch and Ald’ruhn; the cracked, black and empty gates to the realm of oblivion that dot the land; the statues of mighty heroes since lost or vanished. The political climate is none better. To the south, the lands of Black Marsh and Elsweyr have separated from the Empire; to the west, Vvardenfell lay destroyed under the ash of Red Mountain and the desolate echoes of the Ministry of Truth’s collapse. Cyrodiil struggles to hold together what remains of its provinces as warlords take root in wild Colovian fields and Blackwood marshes, although strength has steadily been brewing under the watchful and diligent eye of Potentate Ocato. To the east rebellious Altmer have slowly begun to weave again the institutions of the Thalmor, plotting and gathering strength like a patient but vicious storm at sea.

And somewhere, beneath it all, the names of a few find themselves appearing in the writings of an Elder Scroll like ripples on the surface on a pond.

It is the first days of spring and full, as each new year is, of possibility...but no promise of prosperity. You find yourself in the Imperial City – perhaps on business; perhaps as a citizen; perhaps, even, by accident. Only one thing is for certain: the gods have put you here for a reason, and only time will tell what that reason will be.

Lore overview for story purposes (see also the wiki for canon lore):
Hidden:
4E0 - End of the Oblivion Crisis. Later in the year, when no answer as to a new Emperor is reached, Ocato reluctantly becomes Potentate.
4E1 - Black Marsh and Elsweyr secede from the Empire. Unease spreads throughout Cyrodiil toward the members of the Elder Council, and general doubt over Ocato’s abilities arise.
4E2 - A group of rebels from the Nibenay attempt, unsuccessfully, to rise and challenge Ocato. They are thwarted in advance by the Imperial Legion, who is placed along the border with Black Marsh.
4E3 - A network of warlords and bandits begins to the East of Cyrodiil, despite numerous attempts from the Imperial Legion to keep them at bay. The Gold Coast bandits, noted by the yellow bands they wear on their arms, become common pests along the roads.
4E4 - Brief skirmishes with Argonian and Khajiit rebels, particularly the Renrijra Krin, become commonplace along the borders of Black Marsh, especially in areas with heavy Dunmer populations.
4E4 - Given the cost of repairs from the Oblivion Crisis, provinces across the Empire begin to notice a weakened economy. People with little wealth begin to feel the impacts. The Imperial Guard captain seizes the moment to inspire recruits with promises of gold.
4E5 - The Red Year; the Ministry of Truth falls and Red Mountain erupts. Argonians seize on this opportunity to invade Morrowind, and House Telvanni falls.
4E6 - Morrowind refugees flock to Skyrim and northern Cyrodiil, causing tension among the native populations. Border towns like Cheydinhal have an unexpected population boom with foreign Dunmer.
4E6 - Potentate Ocato begins the first of his meetings with the leaders of the other provinces. They are tense at first and often unsuccessful.
4E7 - A Bosmer member of the Elder Council is arrested for attempted treason. Few more details are released despite a special edition of the Black Horse Courier.
4E8 - An Imperial warlord known only as Savilius, leading an outlaw army of the lawless and the greedy, burns a path to the Imperial City. He is stopped in a field before the City after a two day skirmish. Several small towns and farms on the path are caught in the crossfire. The fate of Savilius, however, remains uncertain, with rumors as to his demise - or escape - running wild.
4E9 - Potentate Ocato, with the backing of the Elder Council, continues his meetings and has a successful one with the leaders of the provinces about a unified Empire.
4E10 - There is a general feeling of hopefulness going into the new year. Though many things are uncertain and the times are tough, under Potentate Ocato, at times leading the Elder Council with an unpopular sternness, a collapse of the Imperial economy has been prevented; there is a ceasefire along the borders of Black Marsh; and, with rumors of successful talks of unification and peace, some may well believe that the Fourth Era will be one of peace.
Yet many supporters of the Empire will settle at nothing less but a return to the way things were: a unified Tamriel under Imperial jurisdiction. Many more will give all they can to keep that from happening. Some, too, know that the Emperor’s throne yet lay unoccupied, and there are many a soul who would covet that seat...

You are a pivotal part of the story. A wandering adventurer, a hero or villain in your own right, a great mage, warrior, thief, guard, merchant, courier, beggar – there are no limits to who finds themselves inevitably caught up in the Champion’s song.

Your character sheet – Please fill out the following information. Be reasonable; have weaknesses to counter your character’s strengths. Leave room to grow as a person, as with each great adventure comes a new set of discoveries and skills. The more believable and unique your character, the more story opportunities you may discover.

Character development, skills, and action rolls – Attempted actions, combat and non, will be determined by a mix of dice roll and DM modification. That is to say, a dice roll will take place, and I will adjust the outcome based on your character sheet. This way your actions will be relevant to both the environment around you and your character’s skill levels and classes, to prevent unlikely successes or outcomes. If you don't have speechcraft as a major skill, you aren't going to influence the captain of the guards; likewise, if you aren't a swordsman, you're going to be in some trouble if a sword is all you have on the battlefield. Fairness is the name of the game. (Note: You may still, in fact, get a lucky roll. The gods are not fickle in their watch...though whether Divines or Princes, who can say?)

Remember that the skills you choose will affect the outcome of your attempted actions in this roleplay. Barring any negative effects on your character: a major skill will likely succeed; a minor skill may or may not succeed; and skills without mastery will be very unlikely to succeed, and will be weak when they do. Pick your skills wisely, and make sure they make sense for your backstory and character class. There will be two opportunities to level up, allowing you to promote skills or add new ones.

Some prominent and rising figures in Fourth Era Cyrodiil...
Hidden:
The Champion of Cyrodiil – Champion, Hero of Kvatch, Defender of Bruma – there are few titles that the Dunmer does not possess. Little is known of him except that he has not been heard of the past several years. His statue remains in the city of Bruma, perhaps the only physical memory he has to offer; even his name has been lost to the whispers of time, remembered only by a few. Even so, the impression he has left on Cyrodiil has not yet died, and many who survived the Crisis remember him fondly.

Potentate Ocato - A stranger to none, Ocato has, despite his critics, successfully kept all of Tamriel from collapsing into petty war and infighting, which is no small task. Even though he is but an arrogant Altmer, and given that he is not always the most emotional or sensitive person, he has been humble enough to have avoided any relation to his position and that of the emperor, insisting that he is but a loyal subject. There are some who may wonder why he and the Elder Council do not just elect any worthy man emperor, but it may seem it is not quite so easy. He is a strong mer and well composed: it seems that nothing in the world troubles him.

The Elder Council - Without an emperor the Elder Council has gotten a bit more recognition than they are normally used to. A gathering of loyal men, mer, and beast who serve the best interests of Tamriel, this society is not open to the public and rarely interacts with them, to the point that it is not well known who mans the positions within. However, it is no secret that Ocato frequently requests their aid and council, or that they have given him their backing, if not reluctantly at first. The Council does not seem to be without its flaws, though: it was only three years ago when a rumor escaped that a Bosmeri member was removed from his position, though for what and who he or she is, no one has ever been able to know.

The Blades - Just a small gathering of heroes from the Oblivion Crisis, the Blades, with no emperor, have been trying to help Ocato keep the remaining Empire in order. The bulk of their duties are still secret and unknown to the common man, but it is without question that they have been quite busy lately; though why and what for, only the Blades may know.

Darius Falvian – The loyal and attentive Imperial captain who aids Ocato in the Imperial City. Decisively loyal and offering a no-nonsense mentality, Darius is a familiar figure to those residing in the city given his friendliness with citizens on his weekly patrols and due to his prominence as the captain who aided in, if not masterminded, the defeat of Savilius the bandit several years prior. Most of his time is spent in the White Gold Tower, making sure that the Potentate’s many threats remain at bay.

Hadrian Snow-Hammer - There could be no better leader for the Fighters Guild than a mighty Nord, and Hadrian fits the bill. He is an impressive and fearsome and, oddly enough for a Nord, good at business, perhaps a credit to his youth spent in Bruma as opposed to his home in Falkreath, Skyrim. He rose to fame by successfully unraveling the Blackwood Company and has helped the Fighters Guild get back on its feet. Whenever there is a problem, Hadrian and his guild are sure to show up to solve it.

Elaninde - The current Archmage and head of the university, Elaninde is an Altmer of high renown with no shyness about her relationship with many influential figures, including Potenate Ocato. She has been perhaps too firm about her opposition to the public’s claim that magic is at fault for the Oblivion Crisis. A few weeks ago she departed on a journey to meet with influential members of the guild outside of the Imperial City. However, her return has been delayed, and her council of wizards and master-wizards are starting to wonder if they oughtn’t be worried.

Karlot the Tamriel Terror - This mighty Redguard is well known in the Imperial City, where he enjoys the fame and fortune of being the Arena's Grand Champion. Despite his fierceness he is rather friendly, although not one to be trifled with by any means. He can often be found in many bars in the Market District, usually trying to hide from the annoying little Bosmer who seems to adore him. Visitors to the arena can see him on display twice a week against wild beasts - and, occasionally, the fighters who are crazy enough to try to steal his title.

Savilius - A mysterious figure with no true name and unspoken origins, but a well-known man across the province nonetheless, if mostly in The Black Horse Courier. Savilius is considered a nuisance by most and a hero by some. Though it is not quite certain what his true background is, he reigns as a bandit king in the northwest of Cyrodiil, and a successful one at that, credited with bribing counts and countesses, having questionable alliances with Argonian and Khajiit rebels, and being funded by healthy black market operations across Tamriel. His most recent claim to fame was leading an army against the Imperial City in 4E8, where he was either captured, killed, or escaped. No one has ever been able to say what truly happened to the man, but his bandit networks have not yet died, hinting towards his likely survival.

Titus Mede - The better known of Savilius’ rivals but lacking his recognition across Cyrodiil, Titus is known in name by his followers and simply as another nuisance by any common folk who would know him, the majority of whom reside in Colovia. He has risen up in the past two years quietly but has been prevented from achieving any real fame by the success of Savilius’s men, who are proving to be quite a thorn in his side. Still, he has attracted many young farmers and wanders with his ideology of a true Imperial-backed king and Cyrodilic nationalism, and that alone may prove to be his strength.

Ye olde rules for The Champion's Song:
  • Respect the DM - Your humble DM is not perfect. Your humble DM also has a life away from the computer. As you are respectful of your fellow players and their computer time, please be respectful of mine. If you are waiting for DM interaction, please be patient - I will respond as soon as I can. If the DM asks you to do something, please do it. If you do not agree, please PM me as opposed to acting out in the RP. It may ruin things for others.
  • Follow all RP forum rules - They are mentioned over here.
  • No godmodding - You may not and will not take control of another person's character, another character's actions (NPCs or PCs), make assumptions about another person's character, or magically know something listed on a character sheet but not mentioned by that character in the story. Remember to keep you as a player and your character separate.
  • No spamming - Please don't spam in this thread. You are more than welcome to go off on some tangents with another person's character, but if you are interacting with another person's character and that person is not on as often as you, please be patient. Do not run off on the character; it deprives them of interaction. Do not godmod that character. If you notice someone isn't keeping up, just send me a PM.
  • Be reasonable - Please act loyally to your character sheet. Do not do something that would seem unreasonable for your character. It's very hard to imagine and you can't, naturally, be good at everything. It's okay - that's what makes people interesting!
  • Avoid modern day lingo - There are no guns, trains, cars, computers, etc. in Tamriel. Avoid phrases like "trainwreck" and so on - no one will know what the heck you're talkin' about.
  • Inform the DM upon dropping out - People drop out of RPs: it happens, and it's okay. However, if you intend to leave the story, please notify me. When a character unexpectantly leaves a story, it is difficult for other characters who have formed relationships with, are waiting for, and/or interacting with that character. If you decide to leave, let me know so I can reasonably work this into the story so you don't just disappear off the face of Nirn.
  • Have fun - The most important rule! If you somehow fail all others, at least accomplish this one.

Woot! Can't wait!

Reserved for Character sheet.

And here it is!
Hidden:
Name: Tauryon
Race: Altmer
Age: 35
Physical Description: Tauryon stands nearly seven feet tall and is well-built, as are all Altmers of note. Dark gold hair adorns his light gold head, pulled up into a tight hairstyle that keeps his long locks out of his golden eyes. His cheekbones are low and his face is long, giving him a sickly look despite his good physical condition. He usually wears blue robes when out in public, a golden belt around his waist keeping his several pouches and dagger easily accessible.
Personality: A quiet mer, Tauryon doesn't usually speak unless spoken to, or if he finds himself surrounded by foolish ideas. Very much a loner, he keeps to himself as much as possible, often going off to be by himself.
Class / Profession:- Mage/Assassin
Weapons / Equipment: Several potions of healing and restore magicka, a ring of Night Eye and a Daedric dagger of which he does not discuss its origins.
Clothing / Armor: Blue robe with a golden belt with multiple pouches. Brown shoes. Black light armor which he wears under his robe.
One Major Skill: Mysticism
Two Minor Skills: Shorts, Sneak
Background: Tauryon was born in Skywatch on the Summerset Isles, his father Tarnus and his mother Etherion raised him with the understanding that he was not just another being on Nirn - he was an Altmer, a High Elf, chosen by the gods to have dominion over all of creation. He was trained in the mystical arts as well as in the art of deception and stealth. He was recently approached by a radical sect of Altmer who believed as he did, in Altmer superiority who aimed to take back the land that once belonged to their ancestors, by any means necessary.
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): Father - Tarnus, Mother - Etherion, Brother - Eltanus
You are in the Imperial City because… on business.
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character: He meditates and prays three times a day - Sunrise, midday, and sunset.

Sounds like a good run, the N'wah'll post a character asap (Any limitation on racial subspecies? :P )

On a side note: I may be wrong (because I'm tired and horrible with directions), but do you mean Vvardenfel is to the east?

Edit for my sheet:
Hidden:
Name: J'Dinn
Race: Dagi, Khajiit
Age: 36
Physical Description: Standing no taller than most human or meri children, like most dagi, he has a coat of short, bluish-black fur; sporting a light cream colored muzzle. He has deep emerald eyes
Personality: Inquisitive, naive, and eager to a fault in his tender years, age and scrutiny related to his practice of magic and figures of worship within the Empire has tempered him with caution
Class / Profession: Healer/Scholar
Weapons / Equipment: A wooden short staff with a blunt crescent moon head, small hip satchel containing a silver dagger, an advanced edition on "Notes on Racial Phylogeny", and a small journal with ink/quill set
Clothing / Armor: Yellow hooded robes tied with a dull black belt, basic leather ankle sandals, and a silver amulet inscribed with a cat's eye on one side and waves on the other (Cat's eye showing by default)
One Major Skill: Restoration
Two Minor Skills: Alteration, Conjuration
Background: Born to uncertain parents, he grew up an orphan in a small village southeast of Torval, among many others. He was groomed to become a priest of Hermorah by the orphanarium due to his innate magical talent, but his curiosity brought him outside the priesthood and Elsweyr; studying in Cyrodiil, Morrowind, Skyrim, and High Rock. In 3E 433 he fled the chaos of Cyrodiil to Elinhir, where he was welcomed as an oddity. A misuse of summoning in front of the wrong people found his home ransacked and him on the road back to Cyrodiil. With the mistrust of magic a general opinion compared to before, he decided to settle outside the city of Chorrol; traveling only for supplies or research material.
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): Do'Viir (Cathay-raht, Younger "Brother")
You are in the Imperial City because… He has been studying abroad within the northern provinces of Tamriel since 3E 430, 2 years after fleeing Cyrodiil border during the Oblivion Crisis he had settled in a small shack outside Chorrol and makes the occasional trip to the Imperial City to hunt for new reading material, this is one such trip..
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character: Despite his vocation and travels he till retains his corrupted Ta'Agra speech (third person, occasional phrases, etc.), general wariness of bosmer, altmer, and redguards, he likes to keep his worship a secret (As well as his conjuration depending on his company)

You guys can take your time developing your characters, trust me! I will hold spots.

Chaos, as long as it's appropriate, I'm going to say you can be any subspecies you want. So if you want to be a Renrijra Krin Khajiit and fight against the Imperials, cool with me.

Edit: Oh, and with Skyrim to the north (of Cyrodiil), that would make Morrowind and the island of Vvardenfell to the east. ;)

I'll join. I'm thinking about making a Dunmer vampire. The porphyric hemophilia kind of vampire. Recently turned too, was turned in the imperial city about 3 days ago. Is that okay?

Also what game are the skills working off? I don't want to put down Morrowind skills when you are expecting Skyrim ones.

Yes. I will begin devising a nuclear bomb of a character immediately. It may turn out to be just a stick of dynamite, but you know.

I know I might have to change Long Blade to Blade or One Handed. I might have to change other things too.

Hidden:
Name: Talsi Nerano
Race: Dunmer
Age: 16
Physical Description: Grey skin, shoulder length black hair, average size and build, small bust, young looking, red vampiric eyes and fangs as a result of being a vampire.
Personality: Until a few days ago she was an adventurous and fun loving youth in the big city. However since the death of her best friend and her assault by a vampire followed by her transformation, Talsi has become more of a recluse. She is terrified that her sire will come for her at any minute.
Class / Profession: Vampire
Weapons / Equipment: Silver Longsword, 750 gold, journal, satchel, writing equipment.
Clothing / Armor: Black TES IV style leather cuirass, greaves, boots and fingerless gloves.
One Major Skill: Speechcraft
Two Minor Skills: Blade, Restoration
Background: Talsi was born in Balmora and lived there until she was 11. Her family escaped Morrowind during the Red Year. They used their contacts in Cyrodiil and managed to move to the Imperial City. Her family had lost much of it's wealth and status, however her parents both managed to get jobs as merchants who oversee furniture deliveries down at the docks. She has a natural silver tongue but learnt the use of magic from her father and swordplay from her mother. Two days after arriving in the Imperial City she met an Imperial the same age as her named Macro Pilus. The pair became quick friends. She went over to his house 4 days ago. When she arrived she found the entire Pilus family had been murdered by a Breton vampire named Astien Rielle. Before she could flee the vampire was upon her. Instead of killing her, he infected her with Porphyric Hemophilia in order to transform Talsi into one of his own kind. He then left, informing Talsi that he would be seeing her again. Talsi ran all the way home and has stayed cooped up in her bedroom since then. Yesterday she awoke to discover that she was a vampire. Her parents have began to grow worried for their daughter, still unaware of her true affliction.
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): Father: Daras Nerano, Dunmer, Male, aged 54. Mother: Arnsi Nerano, Dunmer, Female, aged 45. Sire: Astien Rielle, Breton, Male, aged 117 (Looks 35.) Best Friend: Marco Pilus, Imperial, Male, aged 16, killed along with the rest of his family by Astien Rielle. Acquaintance: Iszara, Reduard, Female, aged 24, seen her perform a few times, gave her money and conversed a little. Neighbour: Gaius Farrus Pontanian, Imperial, Male, Aged 36.
You are in the Imperial City because… Lives in the city with her parents in a house located in the Elven Gardens district.
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character: Is a vampire, the Porphyric Hemophilia kind. Was born into a House Hlaalu family. Like many Dunmer, her family worship the Reclamations.

Belated, but yes you can be a vampire - just remember that vampires are extremely hated in Tamriel society, and you're bound to run into problems.

For anyone else going forward, you can choose which ever skills you wish. Morrowind and Oblivion ones would be more appropriate, since they're more easily classified (long blades and shorts, etc.). You can even use spears. Huzzah!

Kerr, I will review your sheet. I'm sure it's fine.

Shorts will be one of my skills for sure. Does that include bathing suits and jorts as well?

So can we, say, be a soldier for Titus Mede?

You can be a soldier for the rebel warlords in Cyrodiil, yes. You can also be a bandit outlaw or an Imperial soldier or a sneaky Altmer; the possibilities are pretty open. If you want to fit into a niche group like that, just PM me so we can discuss and I can work you into the story an give enough information about the RP lore and characters for an appropriate background.

I'll only accept two or three people like that, though, and you have to be able to really sell me on your character.

Okay the excitement of others has gotten to me and I'm giving this a try. Since the skill list is undefined I'm guessing that anything from TES games goes. Hopefully none of the above is suitable as a alignment category. If not I have a character backstory that is much less interesting.

Hidden:
Name: Iszara
Race: Redguard
Age: 24
Physical Description: Fit, skin dark even for a Redguard spending all her time out in the sun, black braided hair down to her mid-back, dark brown almond shaped eyes, jaw slightly rounded, high cheek bones, full lips, a small flat nose well proportioned to the rest of her face
Personality: Friendly and playful but careful and distrustful
Class / Profession: Street performer
Weapons / Equipment: Dagger, quarter staff with oil soaked rags wrapped around the ends, matches, flask of high quality lamp oil, small purse with coins equivalent to 4 gold, she has more money at home
Clothing / Armor: Purple and red silk sleeveless top and skirt, midriff slightly showing and a neck line that reveals only her neck, simple sandels for her feet
One Major Skill: Illusion
Two Minor Skills: Speechcraft, Acrobatics
Background: Daughter of a merchant family, Iszara was orphaned at the age of nine in a fire that killed her entire family and destroyed most of their assets. One of the few things that survived the fire was a book on illusion magic that belonged to her mother. At the orphanage Iszara spent all of her free time studying the tome as well as she could. At the age of eleven she ran away from the orphanage and made her life as a street beggar. From there she started to use her illusion skills both to entertain people and to increase their disposition towards her so she could get more coin. She sought out the attention of others who made their money on the street and learned what she could from them. Travelling from city to city she eventually ended up at the capitol of the Empire and decided to stay there.
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): She knows and may be friendly or unfriendly with others who make a living a similar way. Mostly other street performers, vendors and thieves that are well known and have been in the Imperial City a while. Doesn't know her name but would know Talsi Nerano as the pleasant young Dunmer that occasionally attends her performances. Recognizes Farrus as one of the more generous and gentlemanly individuals who attend her performances. Was recently saved from two muggers by Darius Falvian while he was on one of weekly patrols. In the past couple weeks Iszara has made the habit of changing the schedule of her shows and making the time to causally bump into him and make small talk when she knows he will be out.
You are in the Imperial City because… Iszara has been in the Imperial City for the past three years as it is one of the best places for a person of her skills to earn a living.
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character: She typically uses her magic to enhance her performance. She has mastered simple charm spells and can produce auditory hallucinations to make people believe they are hearing music. Is currently struggling with invisibility spells. She can make something as large as her staff invisible but can't apply the magic much more beyond that.

Here's my character.

Race: Breton
Age: 28
Physical Description: Fit and muscular with a pointed jaw and dull blue eyes. Greasy brown hair that he keeps unkempt, and a beard along with a mustache.
Personality: Untrusting and greedy most of the time. He is loyal as long as he can benefit from the interaction. Can be rather mean spirited at times.

When Bernand was 19, his father retired and the two moved to a small house in the Imperial City. Things were looking well for them, and when Bernand was 23 his father died from a sudden illness. Bernand inherited his father's wealth. He decided to go out and buy a sword, shield, and a suit of armor and get training on how to fight. After training for quite a while, he decided to take advantage of the numerous bandits and warlords prowling Cyrodiil. At the age of 23 he decided to become a sellsword. Bernand decided to stay in the Imperial City, as he had a home there and had lived there for a while.
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): Leland Peric (Father, died at 72 years old)
You are in the Imperial City because… Lives in the city and also searches for those who are in need of a sellsword.

Believe it or not, I actually have a very steady character development plan for this character. It's deeper than most characters I've made, actually.

Spoiler:
Name: Grok
Race: Nord
Age: 31
Physical Description: Big, with muscles made for smashing rocks and Elves! Long blond hair, because cutting hair is for Elves! Except for the beard, because the ladies like Grok beardless. Scars all over, because Grok ain’t no magic-casting Elf!
Personality: If Grok can’t kill it, eat it, or kill it then eat it, it doesn’t interest Grok.
Class / Profession: Grok does what Grok wants, when Grok wants!
Weapons / Equipment: Big Nordic steel swingin’ axe, daggers for cutting up meat, Grok's trusty flagon of beer
Clothing / Armor: Armor made from the fur of a bear Grok strangled
One Major Skill: AXES! SWINGING AXES!
Two Minor Skills: Armor made from the pelts of those Grok has killed! Smithing, because Grok doesn’t even need a forge to make weapons! He shapes the steel with his hands!
Background: Grok was born in the mountains of Skyrim, and raised by wolves! He was born axe in hand, ready for swinging and killing Elves! Grok spent his life killing everything there was to kill in Skyrim, eating all of the meat and drinking all of the beer Skyrim had to offer and sleeping with all of the widows of Grok’s enemies! He came to Cyrodiil to be Grand Champion of the Arena, because one of Grok's enemies said he couldn't right before he was beaten to death with his own arms. Accidentally. Right now Grok is a merma... a marma... the rank above Bloodletter!
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): Grok’s father, Grok, and Grok’s grandfather, Grok, live in Skyrim.
You are in the Imperial City because…: Grok has come to kill for sport in the Arena!
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character: Grok sometimes talks in third person. Grok's axe is named Aoife, but Grok doesn't tell the story behind that to strangers!

Grok's equipment sans the helmet (Including the axe)

My carachter. Do tell if anything is amiss with him.
Spoiler:
Name: Praestigiae
Race: Bosmer
Age: 19
Physical Description: Short (of course) with lightly toned muscle and tanned skin. He has black hair, short at the sides but with a fringe that goes down to his eyes, which a seep brown, almost black, with next to no whites showing. His face, and especially his jaw is angular like most elves, but his lips are plump and full, not like the harsh lines of his cousins.
Personality: He is a somewhat bookish person, comfortable with silence, but that does not mean he avoids conversation or company. He is a romantic at heart, and will always feel at home on or by the water.
Class / Profession: Mage/Healer
Weapons / Equipment: A small selection of battle scrolls (two frost, and one semi-high powered calm) and a steel dagger
Clothing / Armor: Green Apprentice robes and leather bracers.
One Major Skill: Illusion
Two Minor Skills: Speech and Restoration
Background: His family moved away from Valenwood and to the Imperial City while his mother was pregnant with him. She fell into labour, just as she entered the gates, and he was born right in the middle of the Talos Plaza. From then, his mother father, and extended family found a small but comfortable lodging on the waterfront. They never had anything much in the way of possessions, but each found a job, mainly on the water, catching fish that could fund their lives. By the time he was seven, they had saved up enough money and sold their hovel to buy a decent sized vessel, just large enough to live on, and for the next two years they lived a comfortable life, with Praestigiae often venturing to the Arcane University to study the magical arts. He was nine when the Imperial City was attacked by Mehrunes Dagon. Several gates opened up in the waterfront, and many people's homes were burnt to the ground, but he and his cousins and relatives fled to the boat, and cast it ashore. They watched the city burn all throughout the night, and in the morning the smoke hung over them. It was only then that his parent's bodies were found in the streets.
Ten years later, he now lives in the Arcane University, doing very well in his study of Illusion, and pretty well in Restoration, and he hopes to graduate soon. He earns a bit of coin in the Arena by healing the combatants and breaking up any fights (with the use of illusion) that go wrong for any reason
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs): A dozen assorted Bosmeri relatives living on a boat in the waterfront. No real romantic interest.
You are in the Imperial City because… To collect some alchemical supplies from assorted shops in the Market District.
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character: He knows how to sail any vessel very well. He feels like he belongs on the water, and seeks to join the Imperial Navy (if that exists. Notify if it doesn't) after graduating.

I shall join to see if i like RPs.

Spoiler:
Name:Karona the Young
Race:Nord
Age:21
[b]Physical Description:Average size with a fair amount of muscle. Black hair long hair which has been tied back. Green eyes.
Personality:Karona is kind and cocky. She loves to explore and often ends up in danger. She has a strong sense of honour and wears an Amulet of Talos. She loves fine clothes and rings as well as fine swords. Tends to joke around a lot and rarely takes anything seriously. She can't handle her mead as it only takes 2 bottles for her to get drunk. She is not afraid to get into a fight and believes nothing can harm her.
Class / Profession:Two handed Warrior, adventurer
Weapons / Equipment:Nordic Steel Greatsword and a small steel dagger. A steel bow but rarely uses it.
Clothing / Armor:A white shirt that is worn under a green shirt, a small bit of fur that goes over her shoulders and fine trousers and a pair of boots.(Basically, the green fine clothes from Skyrim) But she only wears that when she is not exploring. When she is exploring, she wears Nordic steel armour with a pelt of a bear attached to the pauldrons.
One Major Skill:Two Handed
Two Minor Skills:heavy Armour and blacksmithing
Background:Karona was born in Skyrim. Her family moved to Cyrodiil a few years before the Crisis. When she turned 18, she left home and travelled for months at a time. She tried to join the Fighter's Guild but was turned down due to her not having the experience. So she took up mercenary work. Mainly caravan guard and escorting nobles. She earnt a fair amount of gold. Not enough to make her wealthy but enough to keep her fed and under a roof.
Relationships (with NPCs or other PCs):She loves her mother and father who live in Skingrad. She has plenty of friends, most of them are guards.
You are in the Imperial City because i need to resupply and heard of a noble needing warriors. I'm waiting in the Tiber Septim Hotel for the noble but so far, he has not turned up.
Bonus detail (any detail) about your character:She is homosexual but she doesn't realise it yet. She spends her time in the party's camp sharpening her greatsword and singing Nord songs although this may annoy the rest of the party as she is not a good singer. If she gets drunk, she will end up dancing around the fire in the nude or doing something that is just as embrassing for her. She loves to make up stories about nords when asked about it. As well as playing pranks on the mages. She will often volunteer to stand watch although she will fall asleep half of the time and claim that she was attacked by something fearsome. She may end up getting into a fight with a party member that is fed up of her cocky attitude and her not taking anything seriously. Oh and will threaten to kill anyone if they touch her greatsword. She may make a lot of dirty jokes about the size of a party member's weapon.

I hope i've not done this wrong as this is my first Roleplay.

Huzzah! Here are some notes for all of you:

p-sto: You need to give me a bonus detail. It can be anything at all, from a phobia to a secret to a hidden dream.
Sav: The same with you.
Both of you can note that, if you want it to be secret to everyone else's characters, you can PM it to me. That is always an option. (And is available for anyone else, if you want to edit or submit.)
Matt: Your sheet made me laugh so hard. Just a few notes: (1) on character development - just make sure to evolve based on what happens, not what you want to happen. Don't hold on to what you have planned, as it may not be realistic in terms of the story, which is flexible and fluid; (2) on armor - I assume that's heavy?
Pillow: You can definitely play as long as you'll try your hardest to be active. As for the Imperial Navy, there likely is such a branch. There are pirate ships, after all, the Redguards are famous sailors, and there are lots of trade routes to protect. It should be a reasonable goal.
Thelastdovah: Your character sounds like a riot! If you need any help roleplaying, just let us know; we'll all be happy to help. It might be useful to read a few roleplays around here and the roleplaying tips sticky here for some extra help.

For anyone still wanting to apply: Remember, you can be a member of any faction (Imperial Guard, Fighters Guild, Knights of the Thorn - whatever!), so don't be afraid to get creative. If you'd like to be in a particular niche group but need some more info on it, just PM me. You can also have a relationship (friend, family, or romantic) with another person's character, so if you want to work that out go for it!

I should be able to get the hang of roleplaying once the roleplay starts. I don't envy the group if they stay in a tavern as Karona likes to drink and as i've mentioned, she can only handle 2 pints of the stuff before she becomes very drunk. Or if someone touches her greatsword, she may break a nobleman's son's hand.

Can see her and Grok getting into a fight due to him getting fed up of her making fun of him and her jokes as well as being cocky and refusing to take anything seriously, most of the time.

Haha! Well, just remember to consider the world around you, too. If you break a nobleman's son's hand, you'll be spending quite a long time in the prisons, and that's hardly fun! ;)
