After Alduin is an adult-themed roleplay. There will be disturbing images and sexual content. If you are not mature enough to handle such content, please do not join this roleplay.

The year is 4E 202. Though the Dovahkiin’s defeat of Alduin in Sovngarde spared Skyrim, indeed, all of Nirn a terrible fate, not a year later, a new threat rises.

Near the city of Blacklight, across the border in Morrowind, two forces are locked in a deadly struggle. On one side: The vampires, the bloodsuckers, worshipers of Molag Bal, who seek to extinguish forever the light of the sun and leave themselves free to prey upon the living.

But one thing stands in their path. A noble organization, calling itself the Dawnguard, is perhaps the only thing between the vampires and their wicked goal.

The vampires, with the blessing of Molag Bal, have become terrible indeed: They have learned to unlock their true being, unleashing monstrous vampire lords who glide across the night, preying on the souls of the living….and the dead. If they can gather a trio of Tamriel’s Elder Scrolls, they could rewrite the fabric of the universe itself, and blot out the sun itself. They are led by the great and terrible Lord Harkon, and his daughter, Serana.

The Dawnguard have little to combat this threat, but they work in the name of Meridia, the Lady of Light, and perhaps if they can recover her sacred artifact, the Dawnbreaker, it might prove a critical tool in combating the vampires.

Take up arms, brave hero, and choose a side: Will you become a vampire, spawn of a Daedric Prince, being of the night and warrior of the shadows? Or will you join the Dawnguard, and raise your sword in the defense of the land you love?

Notes on Current Events
The Dovahkiin
The Dovahkiin, Eimar Stormtongue, defeated Alduin in Sovngarde and earned the respect of dragons and mortals alike all across Tamriel for this deed. Now, he lives at the peak of the Throat of the World, engaged in meditation and learning with the venerable Parthurnaax. His mastery of the Thu'um now surpasses even that of his teachers, the Greybeards.

The Civil War
During the peace summit at High Hrothgar, the Dovahkiin negotiated the exchange of the Stormcloak's Winterhold for the Imperial Falkreath, resulting in the installment of Jarls Kraldar and Dengeir, respectively, while Whiterun remains resolutely neutral under Jarl Balgruuf the Greater. However, battles have quickly escalated as two champions have made themselves known: Legate Bormir Silverblood, formerly of Markarth, and Holgeira Stormblade, the Maiden Fury. The city of Windhelm was nearly taken by Imperial troops under Legate Silverblood's command during the Three-Moons Siege, only skirting capture by the arrival of Stormblade's reinforcements. Though Windhelm soon recovered, the docks were totally destroyed, requiring a large expenditure of time and resources to replace, and the walls took heavy damage from the Imperial war machines.

The Guilds
Many of Skyrim's guilds and organizations have faced major upheaval in recent months.

The aging Harbinger of the Companions, Kodlak Whitemane, perished in a Silver-Hand attack on Jorrvaskr, being replaced by Horstar the Wolf, a ferocious yet wise leader, and husband of fellow Companion Aela the Huntress.

The College of Winterhold suffered a major blow when a Thalmor representative murdered Arch-Mage Aren and attempted to make use of the recently discovered Eye of Magnus to gain incredible power. He, in turn, was defeated by a young Imperial mage, Juliette Lalelius.

In Riften, the Thieves' Guild was crippled when Guild Master Mercer Frey abandoned the guild, taking the entire treasury and the Skeleton Key of Nocturnal with him. He was tracked down and killed by a recently-inducted Nightingale called Dar'Joto, with the assistance of fellow Nightingales Brynjolf and Karliah, and restored the blessing of Lady Nocturnal to the guild once again.

The Dark Brotherhood, now operating as an independent organization in Skyrim, was nearly completely decimated when leader Astrid betrayed an attempt to assassinate Emperor Titus Mede II to the Penitus Oculatus. She was slain after she performed the Black Sacrament on herself by Nathala Selara, a female Dunmer of truly exceptional stealth, who then went on to finish the contract and kill the Emperor.

The Blades, disbanded since the War of the Red Diamond, have begun to reform, under the leadership of Delphine and the tutelage of Esbern. Though still small in numbers, they are quite active in fighting dragons throughout Skyrim.

Dragons
Though many dragons have submitted themselves to the wisdom and enlightenment of Parthurnaax's teachings, far more still remain wild, raiding villages and feeding on livestock. Many scholars, in fact, have come to Skyrim specifically to study them, and evidence shows that they may be able to reproduce.

Journal
25th Last Seed, 4E 202
A group of adventurers gathered in the center of the bustling market town of Blacklight. A pair of vampires attacked, forcing the party to work together in order to defeat them, assisted by a Redguard named Isran. Upon the conclusion of the battle, they were invited to join the Dawnguard, a vampire-hunting organization led by Isran, hidden somewhere in the Rift. The group purchased some supplies, and they split into two groups: Brandoril, Dal, Do'Krin, Ra'zhar, Jar'Lulum, Gives-Out-Shadow, Anaril, and Adrianne in one, and J'Kavar and Irri in the other. A large thunderstorm struck, soaking both parties thoroughly.

26th Last Seed, 4E 202
Irri and J'Kavar quickly overtook their companions as they crossed the border, and together the two groups traveled to Windhelm. Once there, they split up again, the two southerners heading to Kynesgrove in order to avoid the Stormcloaks. The others attempted to stay at Candlehearth Hall; however, thanks to an accident, they were attacked by the local Nords and a massive brawl soon began, which ended just as quickly. The city guard was summoned, and all but Adrianne and Anaril wear ousted from the tavern. These four sought refuge at the New Gnisis Cornerclub, the owner of which allowed them to rest over night in the common room.

27th Last Seed, 4E 202
Dal, Brandoril, Ra'zhar, Do'Krin, and Gives-Out-Shadow together hired a carriage to take them to Riften. Adrianne had already left in a different carriage earlier that day. They arrived in Riften slightly before nightfall and made their way to the Bee and Barb inn, soon followed by J'Kavar and Irri. A Breton named Theodore Ashcroft recruited Adrianne's assistance on a job he was doing for a wealthy resident of Riften, and Irri and J'Kavar were approached by an Orc named Durak, a member of the Dawnguard. He agreed to guide them and the others to his organization's headquarters the next morning.

28th Last Seed, 4E 202
The party awoke the next morning, and spent the day traveling to Fort Dawnguard, where they feasted and met up with many of the organization's members. Theodore received some crossbow training from Sorine Jurard, a master archer, and all of them acquired new gear from the Dawnguard's armory.

29th Last Seed, 4E 202
On the following day, most of the adventurers set out with Sorine and Durak for their first vampire hunting expedition, near Dawnstar. They rode hard all day and got there shortly before nightfall, only to be greeted by a dragon. After a pitched battle, the dragon was ultimately slain, and Ra'zhar met his brother, Ra'ziir, now a vampire. Sorine refused to allow Ra'ziir into the Dawnguard in his present state, and so the two Khajiit brothers left, heading for Morthal and hopefully a cure for Ra'ziir. They arrived and were met by a Redguard named Falion, and were shortly joined by Brandoril, who was hoping to purchase some black soul gems. Together, the group of four set out for a vampire lair, where they battled a powerful vampire lord called Movarth. Ultimately, he was defeated, though Brandoril was badly wounded. Ra'zhar and Ra'ziir stayed behind, while Falion took Brandoril back to his home to try and heal him. Ra'zhar and Ra'ziir freed a curious Khajiit, who seemed to speak in riddles and called himself M'aiq. Meanwhile, the others back in Dawnstar feasted on dragon steaks cooked by the innkeeper, and Dal rescued Wylandriah from certain death.

After I'm done with my character, should I post it in this thread?

I figured there'd be two schools of thought - those who want to do it, and those who don't want to spoil it for themselves.

Watch, Eltee will cave by next week.

I'll join, although I won't get to work on my character until more info about Dawnguard (such as locations and the two opposing factions) is released.

Username: Lavender Khajiit

Name: Black-Leaf

Race: Khajiit

Sex: Female

Age: 24

Birthsign: Theif

Appearance: Brown-black fur, mottled with black spots, one white spot on each ear, small nose, petite frame, foot long tail, tip is bent, silver-grey eyes, always in slits, gaunt facial features

Personality: Slightly introverted. Can act like a child at times, especially when around butterflies and books. Lavender seems to be the only thing to calm her when angry. Her personality is a mystery, acting like an emo brat one moment, to being the happy-go-lucky chit the next. Some would say she has come into contact with the Mad God himself.

2 Major Skill: Sneak, One-Handed

2 Minor skills: Speach, Pickpocket

Backstory: It never started out well to begin with. physically mutilated by her own mother at birth, then left behind with her siblings at age 3, she already formed an attitude about life and it's ways.

Her brothers and sisters left, while she stayed behind in Elsweyr, making her own goals and learning the ways of the Theif. So far so good, until the day she got word by ear-of-gossip about an elderly female Khajiit found dead inside an old shack, by an Imperial.

She had no doubt in her heart that it couldn't be anyone but her mother... which didn't bother her in the least.

It did start a chain of thoughts, about her position in life, where she was at in it. This was when she decided to take up room in Bravil. Things got gloomy from the start, there. Opting for the Mages Guild, she learned she had an apptitude for Alchemy. Which was then later set upon enviously by a female High Elf. Stealing Black-Leaf's ingrediants and blaming her of her clumsyness, the Khajiit finally got tired of the High Elf's abuse, and talked to the Head Mage... which got her no where.

The High Elf made her last mistake one night, and through the Khajiit's learning of Illusion, caused the High Elf to kill herself, through suicide. Nightshade was found around her room, along with a note.

Other more interesting events took place while in bravil, including the infamous Skooma Den. After learning about the destruction of her favorite
Spoiler:
statue, lady Luck,

she flew into a silent rage, threatening a caravan merchant into taking her to Cheydinhal.

Drunken Elves, Imperial Thieves, and posessed canvases were NOT her thing. So her stay there wasn't long at all.

With her nightly skills, she gathered enough gold to take her farther North...

Her next stop-Skyrim.

She would ask herself what she had gotten herself into at this point.

Equipment: Steel Dagger, Leather Cuirass, Leather Greaves, Leather Boots, Leather Bracers, Gloves, three (3) Minor Healing Potions, two (2) Stamina Potions, twelve (12) sprigs of Lavender (harvested), Silver Ring, a copy of Three Thieves, two (2) Tankards, cowl, 353G

Spells: Healing, Fear, Calm

*she will be apart of the Dawnguards, albeit hesitently.

I'm in doubt, 'cause this sounds a mite interestin', but at the same time, it might spoil Dawnguard a bit too much for me...

I know this isn't the general discussions thread, but I don't even have the wireless thing to hook up to my 360 to gain Dawnguard anyways....(at least not yet) and I'll probably miss the chance any ways....

(emo moment) I'll probably have to sell off my 360 just to keep up with college books...

Kind of assuming for an expansion that's not even out, eh? ;) (not to say I wouldn't thoroughly adore a DLC set in Morrowind)

I'm going to try something different this time. Maybe a Redguard warrior. Probably female. Named either Hzuri or Nasira.

I think Nasiri is a pretty name. You should give her an aggressive personality, too.

Name: Brandoril Dralor

Race: Altmer (Altmer mother, Dunmer father)

Sex: Male

Age: 134 (As of 4E 202 [Born 9th of Sun's Dusk, 4E 67])

Birthsign: The Atronach

Appearance: Black, mid-length hair, a short beard, a fat button nose, large pointed ears, orange eyes--relaxed/almost droopy, average height, a bit chubby, slightly hunched back

Personality: Rather shy, reserved, and quiet. Fiercely loyal and protective, and very loving. Quite vengeful/spiteful when wronged (He punishes evildoers and criminals with a slow, painful death, before reanimating their body, thus denying them their rest, and eventually ending them again, once again, in a slow, painful fashion).

2 Major Skills: Conjuration, Destruction

2 Minor Skills: Restoration, Sneak

Backstory: His father was from Morrowind. He, like the rest of his family, was a part of the Great House Redoran. His father was a great warrior and eventually rose to the honored rank of House Brother. Hearing Azura's warning of the destruction of the province, he left for Cyrodiil before the province was destroyed after the eruption of Red Mountain. He joined the Imperial Legion, and was sent to Hammerfell following reports of a Thalmor attack on Sentinel.

His mother was from Summerset Isle. Much of her family's history is unknown; they lived in seclusion, a family of independent wizards and scholars. She left for Hammerfell when the Thalmor took control of the Isle. She fought against the Thalmor when they attacked Sentinel on the Night of Green Fire, and was eluding the Thalmor when she was saved by Brandoril's father, who had been sent to Sentinel with the Legion. They married the following year, and Brandoril was born in 4E 67.

They lived in the Imperial City. Brandoril was schooled, beginning at age 8. His mother began teaching him sorcery at age 10--he was particularly good at Conjuration, Destruction, and Restoration. He was also skilled at Illusion, though he was absolutely hopeless at Alteration magic. His father began teaching him soldiery at age 17--he found skill with a blade and bow, and safety behind heavy armor, though he always preferred the comfort of his mage's robes. At age 19, Brandoril became a scholar of Falmer and Dwemeri history, as well as magical theory and study. He published various minor and major papers on those subjects over the years, until 4E 168, when the Empire was on the decline, and he began honing his magical skills even further, in anticipation of the war to come.

When the Great War came, Brandoril's father was sent to southern Cyrodiil and was never seen again by his family, presumably killed by Thalmor forces. In 4E 174, when the Imperial City was taken, Brandoril and his mother fought their way out of the city and fled to Hammerfell. They became mercenaries, often protecting merchant caravans, and as a result, never settled down anywhere in Hammerfell. Brandoril's mother was killed by desert bandits in 4E 201. Brandoril slew the remaining bandits, buried his companions and mother, and set about raising the fallen bandits from death, and slowly roasting them to ash, before heading to Skyrim for a fresh start. Someone had witnessed Brandoril's punishment of the bandits, and not knowing the circumstances of the event (Assuming that Brandoril had destroyed the caravan and raised the dead), the witness rode to Skyrim ahead of Brandoril, and warned the Legion there.

Upon entering Skyrim, Brandoril was arrested by the Legion for multiple counts of murder, and necromancy, and was sent further into the province in a cart, which became a procession of prisoner carts, bound for Helgen--leading up to the events of TES V, of course :)

It's not too late to try and join, right?

Username: Musicman247

Name: Dalog gro Malnon (Dal)

Race: Orc

Sex: Male

Age: 37

Birthsign: The Lady

Appearance: Grayish green skin covers Dal's body, along with multiple scars. He has one whole tusk on the right side of his mouth and a half tusk, broken during a battle, on the left. His black hair grows from the middle of his head and is bound into one large braid that falls to the middle of his back. He stands 6'5" and is well built.

Personality: Quiet and reserved. He knows his physical strength but is reluctant to use it, wanting to prove that Orcs aren't just mindless beasts. He is kind and friendly and very patient. He tries to find a peaceful solution before resorting to violence, but his limited intelligence makes that difficult.

2 Major Skill: Restoration

2 Minor skills: One-handed, light armor

Backstory: Dalog grew up in the Orc Stronghold of Dushnikh Yal. His parents (Malon and Belag) were retired bandits who wanted to start a new life after the defeat of Alduin by the Dovahkiin. The two settled down among their own kind and had one child, Dalog. Several years later the two decided to set out to find fortune as adventurers. They were very good at it, and brought some prosperity to the stronghold. Unfortunately there were some within the stronghold who admired the couple's prosperity, but not the couple. They were killed by a thief, who was eventually found and killed as well. The experience scarred young Dalog and he decided that he would not raise his hand in violence unless absolutely necessary. He was taken in by Murbul, mother of the Chief of the stronghold, Burguk. She raised Dalog as her own and taught him many things, including Restoration. As he grew he picked up other skills from the warriors around him, as well as travelers that were allowed within the gates. Being devoted to peace was hard for the young orc, and he was the victim of many fights growing up. His scars and broken tusk are testament to his devotion to non-violence.

Equipment: (500 gold to spend on equipment)He wears dark brown fur shorts and two thick leather straps that crisscross his chest and back (Fur Cuirass 30). Dark leather boots(25), leather bracers(25) and a belt complete his armor. He also wears a Mage's Amulet (100) and a Mage's Ring (100), as well as carrying a steel war axe (55), a staff of Magelight (100) and a Magicka potion (45) and a Minor Magicka Potion (20). (That should be 500)

Spells:
Restoration: Lesser Ward(N), Heal Other(Ad), Close Wounds(Ad)
Illusion: Courage(N), Calm(Ap), Chameleon(Ad)

Expert Skill: Illusion
Perks: Hypnotic Gaze (Calm spells work on stronger opponents), Regeneration (Healing spells are more effective)
