Hello there! My name is Listenin'Darthteej. You haven't heard of me, but I've heard of you. I've been lurking here for a bit, and am ready to introduce my first RP to these somewhat anemic forums. I have much grander ideas in play, but I figure that I'd better learn the ropes of hosting before trying it. I have noticed that there aren't really any traditional TES ideas in here, so I'm also fairly confident that this will fulfill an unoccupied niche. Now, without further ado, prepare to enter the actual ROOOOOLEEEPLAYYYY!:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Plot: As you might have guessed , this RP centers around a group of adventurers who are intent on exploring Oblivion. Expeditions to these perilous waters have been made before, this will be the next in a line of valiant people making this dangerous trek. Valmen, the head conjurer, played by me, has the power to go freely between planes with mere spells, and can take other people along. The rest of the players have the power to locate portals between worlds. We are all connected via telekinesis, and as such can always find each-other and communicate.
Starting point: It is a year after the Oblivion Crisis, and our intrepid party is high up on the frigid mountains of Skyrim. The Dragon may have destroyed the most obvious connection to Oblivion, but scattered and shattered portals drift across Mundus, easily accessible to those with the right knowledge. This particular portal is here. We start off in the comparatively safe realm of Azura. From there, we decide what to do. Each of us has a goal here, how do we accomplish it?

The Planes of Oblivion: You can read about the Planes here:http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Planes_of_Oblivion. Keep in mind that there's plenty about the Planes that I don't know. I've never played Redguard or Battlespire, so I don't know much about Clavicous's realm, nor the Soul Carin, so please tell me! I think that we should talk over our ideas for a plane before moving on as a group. Developing the setting will be a team effort! I myself already have the look of Mephala's Web pretty much down. Speaking of Planes-never-visited, Jygallag's realm will be included in this RP, so be creative in developing it! Also, the realms of Molag Bal and Boethia will require someone skilled in Alteration to survive.

The Daedra: ALL Daedra encountered in the series can be seen in the various planes, especially Atronachs, but that won't be enough. When we discuss moving on to other realms, we can propose various ideas for lesser Daedra, so that there is variety in the RP.

I've come up with ideas for intelligent Daedra that can be found within some planes. They can be talked to as characters in the RP,and the player describing the encounter will also dictate their dialogue. So here they are-
Servants:Think of Haskill. They can be found serving Sheogorath, Azura, Peryite, Clavicous Vile(in the form of Borbas), Meridia, and Malcath.
Golden Saints and Dark Seducers: Anyone who's played Shiveing Isles should know about them. They can occasionally be found serving other lords as Shock Troops.
Dremora: With Mehrunes Dagon gone, the Valkanyz have become great kings and emperors. Most Dremora are willing to be interacted with.
[&@%!]: Large, busty, naked, and literally gold-skinned women who serve under Sanguine. They will gladly provide information, as well as give their "services" to mortals. Some of them only put out to Sanguine, they are identified by being even bigger than the regular ones, and refusing to talk to mortals.
Bargainers:They are the spitting image of Satyrs from Greek mythology who serve Clavicous Vile. They will always help as long as you provide a service for them.
Wardens: The half man half beast Daedra who serve Hircine. They tell the rules of the hunt to mortals, but little else. Hircine's hunters are also intelligent, but good luck getting them to talk to you.
Maidens of Merdia: Appearing like miniature versions of the Prince herself, their job is watch over the colored rooms. They take little notice of mortals besides answering the most bare-bones of questions.
Winged Twilights: Fierce and Predatory, but are willing to talk if you appeal to them. They might give answers, they might not.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Introduction(and guide to character making)

I have not forced you into this. The journey we are about to undertake is long and perilous, and I cannot guarantee that
you will all live.

Name*your character's name, duh*: Valmen
Race:*Choose from the races in the games. I'd prefer if you kept to the playable ones, but if not, be sure to justify it well* Altmer

I have lived a long life. This is it's ultimate goal.My purpose, perhaps.
Age*Obvious*: 2000

I am withered, but It shall not hinder me.
Appearance*Nothing too unrealistic please*: Tall, with golden skin, blue eyes, and a shock of long white hair. The slight wrinkling of his skin and graying of his hair betrays his age.

I cannot fight, I will not fight, but I will help you along the way.
Skills*How you fight, what skills and magick your character is best in. What equipment they carry. NO UBERS, notice that my character, while powerful, has drawbacks.*: Specializes in the more defensive aspects of Alteration, Illusion, and Restoration. He can levitate, cast shields, keep warm, heal wounds, and cast light on himself and allies. He can paralyze, silence, and demoralize enemies, but that's it for offense. His skills will be key to surviving in the harsh realms of Malacath and Molag Bal. For clothing, he wears a simple black robe and carries an un-enchanted wooden stave.

You know why I am here. Why you are here, I do not know.
Ultimate Goal*The substitute for history, which you don't have to reveal, though you should tell at least a bit about your personality. This is what you want to do, the reason you're traveling into Oblivion. The point of the roleplay is for everyone to accomplish their ultimate goals. You have to have a reason though. Valmen has a reason, he just doesen't reveal it.*:A powerful wizard of the Summerset Isles, Valmen's goal is to find a way into Mephala's Realm, and to attain an audience with the Prince of Murder. He is cool-headed and helpful, always willing to lend a hand to a suffering person. Pacifist.

I have shared my knowledge with you. You are still strangers, but by the end of this I am sure we shall know eachother well. Now prepare yourselves, FELLOWSHIP OF OBLIVION!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Alright then! I hope that this roleplay is successful, and I hope that this explains everything fairly well . Be sure to give tips on how to improve as we go along please, this is my first after all!

I have a feeling that this'll be dead before it starts...

My rules aren't written very well, so can any veteran who's reading give me some pointers on making it better?

As a guy who has made hundreds and hundreds of thousands of....uhhh....millions of Roleplays, half of them being completely driven down the Road of Deadness and 75% of them being driven down the Road of the Loss of Interest, I know when somethin' is gonna suck or not. This is doing okay. 2 people joining in one day? Not bad at all. If you'd take a look at some of my Roleplays, including the one that I've got out now, my opening post isn't half as long as yours and doesn't have nearly as much detail. This won't die fer a while.

Anyway, I'll post my character later tonight.

This is not going to die as soon as you think it will. I am not a Vet of RPing, but one thing is to make sure that things do not get too out of hand by other players. So make sure that no one is too powerful (which you have said not to get done). Then also make sure is that we keep it goin.

Heh, the quotes sound awesome. May I try a vampiric character?

Name: Slytharel

Race: Breton

What say you, outsider? Even I have lost track of my limitless age.
Age: Unknown

You think me some type of monster?
Appearance: Slytharel has a terribly pale shade of skin. His skeletal face indicates that is he is a vampire, but he never admits it or tells any friend or enemy of his long life's tale. He wears a long black coat with a pair of high black boots and a pair of black gloves. His red and gold shirt indicates that he is wealthy. He has long, white hair which is always combed back and a thin, black mustache. His eyes are dark red, and he has razor sharp fangs.

Death be to those who oppose my great power.
Skills: Slytharel keeps a Daedric dagger hidden in his coat, but this is his only weapon. His physical strength is vast, and he can jump unbelievably far. He has the ability to paralyze his enemies. He uses this skill to keep his "meals" still as he "eats" [hint, hint...vampire]. He also is a fine speaker, being able to charm others or cause them to like him. To top it all off, he is very sneaky.

You bloody fool. I wish to visit my...master - the creator of my wondrous gift.
Ultimate Goal: A master of the shadow, and the arts of the kill, Slytharel worships the negative Daedra Princes of Oblivion. His ultimate goal is to gain the favor of Molag Bal himself through a personal channel. Slytharel is a quiet person, and will flee from the sun no matter the costs. He is also highly intelligent, knowing must of Tamriel's history and lore.

YES! I was hoping someone would try being a vampire! Your description is cool too, a lot like Caulder( http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/3353/525473-caulder_large.jpg), but with different clothes and a mustache.

For Gold and Glory!
Name: Casimir
Race: Redguard

The seas were rougher back then.
Age: 46

Damn Imperials sunk my ship. My best mates died, and the rest took what they could and ran.
Appearance: Slightly taller than average, around the 6'1" mark. A workhorse, although not very ripped. Wears leather greaves over brown breaches and a quilted doublet. Average brown skin for a Redguard and a small but unkempt afro. Normally wields his blade on his hip. He has an odd scar around the cicrumference of his wrist, which many people have rumored had once been cut off.

I took what I learned to bring my riches back.
Skills: Especially skilled with rapiers, although also efficient with daggers. He has no magical skill whatsoever, and never really cared to learn it. He learned his thieving and quickness in the slums of Lilmoth as he grew up around Argonians.

And killing's always been fun, too.
Ultimate Goal: Simply, the ultimate treasure horde. Maybe even enough to buy a new ship and begin pirating again. And spill a lot of blood.

I think I'll wait to see if one more person is going to join, Cardbird has a REALLY sketchy posting history. The last time I tried hosting something(a tournament on Pokecommunity, way back in 2008), half of the participants disappeared, and I don't want that to happen here. I'll PM Cardbird, but I don't think that he'll answer anytime before October.

So how many characters do we need before we start, d00d?

Also, what's the canon of the thread? Is it going to be canon with Infernal City (If it is that far past the events of Oblivion), or set between the two with common events?

Ok, so 10 years after, but your first post says 1 year. I guess I should edit my character, cause I don't think a body would stay good for 10 years (even a year was pushing it).

I agree with matt. Get yo story straight, foo (just a joke)!

Maybe it was a typo, and he meant to put "1 year" instead of "10 years". Not likely though...

...Damn. Damnit! GOD DAMN IT TO HELL!

That was pretty embarrassing, and a complete mispeak. It's 1 year after the Oblivion Crisis, which means that the status quo is intact.

Also, once matt314hew submits his character, I think we'll be pretty much ready to go.

In that case, let the RP begin!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The wind whistles over the barren rock, and I stand there, gazing at the vista, and my companions.

Silently, I reach out towards them, in a moment we are all connected.

Aregog, Old Eye, Slytharel, and Casmir. We are one being now, for just a bit, as I prepare to enter, to keep us together as we wade through the waters of Oblivion. A hand reaches up, but with this new view of the world, I do not truly know if it is mine. A flash of light bursts forth from it's palm.

The sky shatters. The world unravels. Feet planted upon firm ground once more. My mind my own.

I look up, and for a moment am blinded by the sheer beauty. But when I cast a spell of darkness upon my eyes I can see this world in all it's beauty. The rolling, green planes spotted by numerous roses. The clear blue rivers and pure white waterfalls. But they are dwarfed when compared to the light. The sun sat upon the horizon, bright as midday and shining with the colors of dawn. Above it were the stars and the moon, their white-blue beams of radiance interacting in a way that can not be described in words.

"We made it."
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EDIT: Crap, this turned out to be a rather bad time to start. I'm going to be occupied with something all of next day.

Aregog looked around. "Amazing. Truly amazing. I don't think I have seen anything as beautiful as this. What I wouldn't give to just relax by the water and fish."

"Would you try to hold a sea dog back from his loot?" Casimir mumbled, drawing his rapier and resting it on his shoulder. The lights made it seem to glow radiant, reflecting in every angle possible. He grumbled something about staying on track and turned to look out on the plains. "Which way's the right way, then?"

A ghost of a smile touched Valmen's lips. "Casimir seems to have the best outlook as any of us." he said. "Azura's rose palace is to the south."

He added, in whisper "let's see if she remembers an old friend."

Just get two people to stay active, and this will be open for years.

I might join, but other things more conducive to real life are monopolizing my time right now.
