Navariësé swung her left blade downwards on the shield with a lot of strength behind it. She thrusted her right towards the ork's face.

Yalveni threw fire in the shaman's directions, having nothing to do with it's or the darkness' whisperings of sweet nothings.

"Keep making sure they can't move that battering ram!" Ronin said. "If they stop trying to grab it, go for the guys that look like leaders."

Gailen put the bow across his back, drawing his shortsword. He tried to stick close to Kaelan: where he went, Gailen would follow.

The Wall

Kaelan had no intention of straying from the wall, unless his master bade him to. He would defend the wall to his last breath. Gailen would have to do the same. He was demanded to. It was expected of him. Gailen was beset by an ork with a large axe. The axe looked badly shaped and rusted. The ork looked badly shaped and crusted.

Navariësé soon found that using two blades at the same time to attack in completely directions made the attack rather cumbersome and rather inaccurate. Her sword found the shield, but not the head for the ork had dodged out of the way.

The shaman was repulsed by this challenge. It had not expected to be met by such opposition, such gallant defence. It had assumed that all wizards would have been involved in the creation of the shield and would have been stricken by great pain when the shield fell. The shaman raised its staff and, with a crack, dissolved the fire into smoke. It grabbed the smoke with its hand, shaping it into a ball. Then, the shaman tossed the ball of smoke. It turned into sand. The sand broke off into clumps. The clumps turned to glass. The glass soared towards Yalveni.

The Gate

At that moment, a ladder was placed beside the gatehouse. Some soldiers rushed to try and push it away but it had clamped down on the wall as hard as death's grip on the throat of a dead man before they could arrive. The orks began to scale the building. If they could not breach the gate through force, they would take the gate house and open the gate for their army.

Navariësé regrouped and swung her left sword downwards on the ork's arm in an attempt to deprive it of it's shield. She would attempt to block any swings of the ork's sword.

Gailen attempted to lodge his blade in the ork's throat, using the speed which the light armor and shortsword afforded him.

"The two of you closest to the gatehouse, go to the top of that ladder and take care of any orks that try to climb over!" Ronin shouted. "The rest of you, keep firing!"

The Gate

"Eós, séros!" replied the soldier, sprinting towards the ladder before any orks could climb over it. "We will make sure that none of them make it over the walls!" he declared, as he hacked at a most opportunistic ork that had taken the chance to climb the ladder quickly.

The archers continued to fire, until they were depleted of arrows. Though they had been given top priority, the orks were too many to be taken down fully. They had perhaps slain one hundred orks before their supplies of arrows had been completely reduced.

"What now, sir? We have nothing more to fire, but loose rock and stone!" a legionary asked, as he hit an ork most precisely on the head with a slung rock.

The Wall

The ork gargled as its throat was suddenly cut off from its lungs. Its eyes went milky. Its muscles taut. It struggled for breath. Blood spat out of the wound. Then, it spasmed and fell dead. Its weapons dropped to the floor with a clatter. There was no time for a rest, for another ork had appeared, with hammer and mace, and swung its weapons oh so close and fast at Gailen, who had but moments to dodge the sickening attack.

The ork held tightly onto its shield, gripping the metal handle as Navariësé began her assault. Still, holes appeared on the wooden structure, splinters flying everywhere. A large splinter struck a passing imp in the throat, killing it.

Gailen attempted to dodge the blow, and if he succeeded, he would retaliate with a slash of his own.

Navariësé took full advantage of the holes in the shield by thrusting her left blade into a hole and attempted to stab the orc's stomach and would swing her right blade at the ork's head.

Yalveni tried to summon as much water as he could to halt the glass, while moving out of the way.

The Wall

The glass was drowned in the magical river that was launched from Yalveni's outstretched palm. It was moving, faster than a man or a horse, and then, suddenly, it stalled, before the glass dropped harmlessly to the ground with a clink.

Navariësé's sword found no stomach. Instead, it was greeted with the sword flesh of the ork's arm. The sword went through the gap in the shield and stabbed right through the ork's hand which was supporting the shield. Her right sword came round and whacked the ork in the ear, slicing it clean off.

Gailen, lithe and athletic, managed to dodge the blow effortlessly. The ork was lost in momentum, swung round by the force of its own assault. Gailen was able to retaliate with brutal effectiveness, slicing his sword into the ork's belly.

"Then throw those," said Ronin. "We need to take out as many as we can from afar, and not engage them in close-up combat until we have no other choice. We can't afford to risk losing any of our lives this early in the battle."

Navariësé thrusted her right sword towards the side of the ork's head. She attempted to push the left blade deep into the ork's hand.

The Gate

Although fast and powerful, the slings were not consistent enough to ensure an instant kill each time. Though many orks were felled by the rocks (although not all of them died), many managed to struggle back to their feet and add to the horde of orks their numbers. The battery ram had reduced the centre of the gate to ruin, so that the smallest imps in the goblin and ork horde could crawl through, though they were cut down by the troops stationed directly at the door.

Ronin felt a pain in his left side. A goblin had sneaked up on him from behind and stuck him one right under the ribs. It was not serious but it was painful and it marked that the orks and goblins had overwhelmed the walls and were now running amok atop the battlements.

The Wall

The ork dismissed its shield and drew back from Navariësé, causing both of her attacks to miss. The ork charged forth with its weapon, swinging it madly in an angered attempt to kill Navariësé. The elf was now presented with the greatest chance to slay her enemy.

Gailen attempted to stab the ork in its the throat to guarantee its death. If he succeeded, he would look to find his next opponent.

Navariësé took advantage of the enraged ork by swinging her left sword at it's weapon in an attempt to get it to block it. If it fell for the trick, she would thrust her other blade straight into the side of it's head.

The Wall



The ork was far stronger than Navariësé and, as such, she was repelled by its attack. Her weapon almost flew out of her hand with the impact and she felt her hand shake violently as the vibrations passed from the metal of the blade to the bone of her arm. She then stumbled, which turned out to work in her favour, for the ork's second attack missed completely and caused the ork to overstep and trip.

The ork was still reeling from the stab to its gut when Gailen followed through with a second attack. The sword cut clean through the ork's major blood flow and killed it almost instantly. Gailen saw two imps charging towards him, almost as if they were trying to avenge their fallen fellow.

Navariësé took full advantage of the ork tripping by quickly moving towards it's undefended side and thrusted both swords towards it. If they managed to pierce the flesh without any trouble, she would quickly withdraw one and thrust it towards it's head.

The Wall

The blades punctured both armour and flesh without trouble. The swords went deep into the ork's stomach, destroying many vital organs. She did not need to stab it in the head for the ork fell dead. But there was no time for rest. There was no respite. The two other orks had overpowered and gravely injured the legionary, leaving him bleeding and prostrate on the ground. They now turned their attention to Navariësé.

Gailen waited for them to get closer, and when they did, he would elbow the closest one, hopefully giving him time to kill the other.

The Wall

The menagi's elbow came down hard on the goblin's head, bursting its nose and causing it to squeal in pain. It backed off, its hands clamped round its face. The other enemy wavered and tried to take a jab at Gailen.

Navariësé knew that she could not take on two orks so she threw her dagger at the head of one of them in an attempt to make it easier for herself.

Gailen tried to dodge, and if he succeeded, he would bring the pommel of his sword down upon its head, and follow up with a finishing slash.
