David bit his lip- he had lost friends before and sometimes even entire ships, but never entire worlds, especially his home.
David pushed back the rage and sorrow he was feeling- he was first officer and he needed to set an example.

"Very good, Lieutenant." the captain said. After Disk left, he put his head in his hands, and fought back the wide range of emotions assaulting him. Why would they just attack without warning? None of this makes any sense. Hopefully we can find out soon.

The Captain sat reading reports sent from the Exeter about the destruction of Earth, when the computer's voice sounded a red alert, and an alarm went off. Shran immediately left his ready room, to the Bridge, and said, "What's wrong Ensign?" directing the question at the operations officer.

"There is a Romulan warbird attacking a Ferengi Merchant ship. They have been boarded, and an emergency distress signal has been sent out." Jenkins aswered.

"Hail them."

A pause, then, "No response, Captain."

Shran then turned to his first officer, "Commander, take an away team and board the Ferengi vessel!"

"Yes Captain," David said with a salute, "I'd like Lt Commander Xetan to accompany me sir- as well as any of your recomendations."

"Lieutenant's Bisht and Disk, go with them as well." Shran said. "Ensign Jenkins, keep hailing them."

"Still no response." came his response.

"Keep trying. Commander, good luck."

"Yes, Captain," Randon said with a slight sigh. He muttered under his breath, "What an engineer is supposed to do during a raid is beyond me."

"Thank you Captain," David said with a nod before heading to the Transporter room.

Randon followed him.

After beaming aboard the Ferengi ship, the four officers saw dead ferengi littering the hallway. Lt. Commander Xetan walked down the hallway a little bit, and discovered a dead Reman. There was no life,at least in this section.

"Commander! There is a dead Reman over here!"

"Any Romulans?" Randon asked. "It would be like them to leave the fighting to their slaves."

"I'm no use in a fight." muttered Disk. "I'm a Science Officer. Wait... Is this worry. Hmm... I'll have to get my emotion chip scanned when I get back."

"You and me both, my artificial acquaintance," Randon said in response.

"No. No Romulans. Maybe we should head to the bridge? Thats most likely where they would have been headed." Xetan said.

Randon nodded and pulled out his phaser.

As the group made their way to the bridge, they encountered a couple of injured Ferengi. "Commander Xetan to Legacy. Medical emergency. beam these Ferengi directly to sick bay."

They continued on, not receiving any resistance. "Strange. They attack the ship, and don't leave any guards to protect the bridge? It makes no sense." she said.

They finally came to the bridge. "Commander, I can feel their presence on the bridge. a few more injured Ferengi, and several Remans. Still no Romulans."

"I believe this is what humans call cowardice. Sending thralls to attack." stated Disk.

"Why wouldn't there be any Romulans on the bridge, though?" Randon asked. "If their goal was to take the ship they should be here...well...taking the ship!"

"Unless that wasn't their goal. Allow me to explain. What if they attacked the ship knowing that in our anger we would be drawn here?"

"Keep phasers on stun," David said, "Are there any security feeds we can view?"

Randon made his way to a console and pulled up the readouts of the ship to check the status of the main engines and other technical data like life support.

What he saw: Main power down, Auxiliary power functioning. Engines damaged, need repairs. Shields down. Long range sensors down.

There was also a feed of what was going on on the Bridge. There were 6 Remans, one sitting in the captain's chair, all the others at consoles performing whatever duties they had been ordered to do. There were also 3 Ferengi, all lying on the floor in small pools of blood.

Xetan said, "Or what if these are rogue Remans? What if they took that Romulan ship, and fled, and are taking this ship so as to be more inconspicuous in Romulan space?"

On the Legacy: "This is Captain Shran of the USS Legacy, Romulan ship, please respond."

"Sir, they're responding! Audio only." Jenkins said.

"Put them on."

"This is Colonel Karatek of the Reman Warbird Viceroy. The Remans have taken over the Romulan Star Empire, and destroyed the Federation. You think you can stop us? Leave now, before we destroy your vessel." With that, the Remans cut off their transmission, and fired a warning shot at the Legacy.

"Ensign Razka, prepare to to leave the system." he said to the helmsman. "Captain Shran to Commander Rhodes. What is your status? We need to get you back soon. The warbird and the Romulan empire are under Reman control, and they are threatening to fire on us."

"Reman control?" Randon asked with wide eyes. "Well that's new."

"We're all alive and okay Captain," David said, "We can head back now- but I would prefer to have a Reman with me."

"Alright. Do what you have to do. But I want you out of there ASAP." Shran said.

"This draws parallels with the Slave Rebellions in ancient Rome." noted Disk. "Fascinating time in history."
