As Kamau eliminated a group of enemies on a metal walkway, Leyland engaged a pair of elites moving to flank his comrade. He held his breath, took aim and pulled the trigger, aiming for the first of the two. The powerful bullet tore into the alien's chest, ripping through layers of flesh, muscle and bone, and finally lodging itself in the ground behind the target. He screamed in pain as the force of the round carried him backwards, and to rest in the dirt. The second elite immediatley turned to face the Pelican, and began firing rapidly with his Plasma rifle. Leyland delivered a quick, aimed shot to the space above the upper jaw, which nearly severed the alien's head. Several more enemies emerged from a doorway nearby, and quickly began pounding the vehicle with plasma fire.

"Calypso, take us up a little! We're taking fire!"

"Don't worry ladies, daddies here." Johnathan yelled over the radio. He ran off ahead from Gordon and climbed up to the doorway adjacent to the one the Covenant were pouring out off. He fired his pistol to grab their attention, emptying the clip and not bothering to reload. A few grunts faced him along with a Jackal and fired hastily. Their petty plasma pistol shots washed over his refractive shields but still drained the power from it. Before his shields collapsed he fired his grenade launcher detonating it amidst the grunts, sending them sprawling off the edge of the walkway. With that he drew back into the building crouching behind a table, letting his shields recharge and ready for any Covenant [&@%!] that was stupid enough to face him in close quarters.

Kamau steadied his rifle as he saw Brutes begin to sprawl out across the walkway. He switched his attention to the Captain, lined up his sights squarely with his head, and fired. Three high impact shells flew gracefully through the air and connected with the Jiralhanae leader's helmet. They emerged through the back of his skull a few miliseconds later. The beast fell to the ground, blood flowing from his mortal wound.
"Sir, I have sights on Elites and Brutes, suggesting that the base may be heavily populated by both sides of the hierarchy. Be advised, we may encounter heavy opposition inside."

"Copy that, im patching in Hackkett." Gordon knelt behind a piece of metal, and began to patch Hackkett in.
"Sir, we're facing heavy opposition from the Covenant. Requesting fire support, over, Gordon yelled.
"No can do Epsilon, our men are already engaged. Hold your ground!"
"Dam&^^, Gordon yelled. Epsilon, looks like we're on our own. We need to hold this area."
Gordon stood up, and turned around. He was still inside the base, and he was surrounded. Multiple Elites and Grunts came pouring out the hallways into the room he was in.
"Oh s#$%!, im surrounded!" Gordon yelled. He went charging into the pack, and killed 3 Elites. More and more filled the room. Gordon fired a shot into a nearby Grunt, the bullet ripping through its methane tank. Gordon was almost free, when a Brute came at him with a Gravity Hammer.
"Come on, come and get me b!@#$!" The Brute charged him, and Gordon aimed at the Brute. He went to fire, but nothing came out. Gordon cussed, and began to retreat. He tripped over a piece of metal that had seemingly appeared out of nowhere. Gordon turned around, and the Brute smashed him the the chest with the blade side of the Hammer. Gordon aimed at the brutes head with his DMR he had in his holster, and let a bullet rip through its head, killing it.
"I need a medic!"

Calypso pulled back on the throttle and touched the falcon to the ground. "It's too hot! Get out, now!" Caly was nervous. She had ran the simulation hundreds of times, but the plasma running past her cockpit was all to real. "Now! Now!" She screamed.

Leyland threw himself from the Pelican, executing a short roll as he hit the ground to avoid injury. The majority of the enemy fire now fixated on him, and consequently he hurried to a group of large rocks for cover. He spoke hurriedly into his comm unit while brandishing his pistol from his thigh. "Calypso, pull out while I've got them distracted! We're going to need that Pelican." He peeked out from behind cover, and unloaded half a dozen rounds at the Covenant situated closest to his current position.

Johnathan was charging across the walkway, shotgun unloading into the heads of Elites when he heard the shouts of Gordon. He was on the ground, in the middle of the open crawling away from the fire-fight. He let one last shell split open an Elites head then jumped down to Gordon, reloading while performing this.
"Don't worry sir, it's just a scratch. Some medi-gel and you'll be fine." He said humorously while lifting him up on his shoulder. He opened up his Radio, "Our CO is injured. I think it's best if we evac now. That's if Calypso has kept it in one piece." He faced Gordon, "What do you reckon sir?"

"Put me down, please, i can walk. Command wants us to hold our position, i requested air support but they're busy somewhere else. It looks like theres an armory at the basement. Maybe you could check it out." Gordon said to Johnathan through clenched teeth.
"Kamau, i need you to go to that nearby bluff with a Sniper Rifle and provide support." Gordon said through the comms, when a huge explosion filled the air. Gordon looked up, and a Covenant Corvette had glassed part of a city, a couple miles off in the distance. Gordon cussed, when 3 phantoms came out of nowhere. Elites, Hunters, Grunts, and Brutes came pouring out.
"Sh#$!" Gordon yelled, when a jet came racing by. Out of it came bombs, blowing up the Covenant opposition, knocking Gordon off his feet.
"Epsilon, like the fireworks? We have a pelican to pick you guys up, there should be a datachip on the first level." Hackkett said, pride in his voice. Gordon weakly walked into the building, and emerged with a data chip, when the deafening sound of a pelican soared by, and landing nearby.

"Aww, I wanted to see the armoury." Johnathan sighed. "But those jets more than made up for it. Nothing like a huge explosion to finish a fight." Johnathan started towards the Pelican but stopped to pick up the dead Brutes gravity hammer. "Mine now." he whispered to himself. He climbed aboard and sat on the seat closest to the hatch, as always. He inspected the hammer running his finger over the inscriptions on the blade. Kiara is going to love this, he thought, But not before I get some use out of it. With that he sat back and waited for the others to board.

"Understood," Kamau replied to the order. Before he headed over to the Pelican, he inspected the body of a dead Brute carrying a Covenant Carbine. He looked over the weapon, and ejected the fuel cell.
"This could come in handy," he murmered to himself as he tucked the cell away in his armour pocket. He grabbed a couple of spike grenades from the Brute, and headed over to the Pelican.

Gordon climbed aboard the Pelican, the chip still in his hand.
"Thanks for the ride" Gordon yelled to the marines driving them. Gordon observed the building, it was leveled and flames rose from it. Gordon looked up, and the Corvette was coming closer at an alarming rate, but nothing to be worried about.
"They're going to pay for this." Gordon thought in his head, and rubbed some Medi-Gel over the deep gash in his chest.

Leyland tore across the open strip of land between him and the Pelican and hopped onboard, tossing his sniper ahead of himself.

Damn, I'm stupid. I fixed it now.

Gordon shifted his spot in his seat. Everyone was aboard. He felt the Pelican lift off, and one of the Marines told him that they had to report to the newly glassed area of Odin. The Pelican sped in that direction. The sky had darkened and was red from the glassing. Gordon knew the pilot, and started a conversation with him.
"Thanks for picking us up Jack, i owe you one after the war-
"If there is one" Jack replied. Suddenly, the Pelican shaked heavily, almost sending Gordon flying out the back. Nearby, a Banshee was tailing them.
"Jump out on 1 Guys!....3,2,1.! Go!" Gordon jumped out the back of the Pelican, and landed in a nearby ditch. Gordon regained his vision, and stood up. Clearly the others had jumped out. Gordon saw The Pelican dip into a nearby hill, instantly exploding.
"No!" Gordon yelled. He turned around, and noticed a cave. Gordon went up to the cave, and said to his team.
"Everyone see that cave...report to me there." Gordon sat down against a wall, and took off his helmet, and was deeply saddened by his pilots death. The Covenant would pay for this.

When Johnathan jumped he compressed the hydraulics in his suit before he hit dirt. He still hit hard, tumbling head over heels. His shotgun dislodged from it's clip and he caught it mid-air, only just holding his grip when he came to a final stop against a large boulder. "Ow!" he moaned while getting up. He heard the call from Gordon, regained his bearings and hustled towards to cave.

Leyland adjusted his communicator's volume as Gordon's message came through a bit too loud. "Right, on my way." Leyland sprinted towards the cave entrance, holding his rifle loosely as he ran. He arrived shortly, ahead of the other squad members.

Kamau dived out of the Pelican just as it lost control, and hit the ground with a heavy thump. He turned around to see the bird crash in the horizon.
"I'm sorry," he whispered respectfully for the crew. His Battle Rifle and helmet were on the bird, and now he was stuck with no weapons but his knife.
"Sir," he responded into his comm unit. "I'm on my way."

Leyland position himself in the cave entrance, his rifle pointed outwards, across the open ground where his squadmates were located. "Sir, there could be Covenant snipers anywhere around here. You should back up a little. Sir." He began scanning every nook and cranny, with his scope set on a high zoom level. Leyland spoke quietly into the communicator, his message directed at the Spartans on the ground outside of the cave. "Move slowly. We've got a possibility of snipers."

Scarlet leaped from the Pelican. Situations like this were common in her homeworld. She hurried to the cave as quickly as possible, her sniper rifle at hand. The likelihood of her finding enemy snipers with her own scope was slim, but nevertheless, she observed the landscape surrounding them closely through the sight of the rifle. "Careful..." she whispered to herself, but loud enough for the others to hear. "Gotta be careful..."
