Francis squinted angrily at Thomas, moving closer to him as if preparing to utter his response to the insult.

"I'm quite a bit younger than you, and much more mature at the same time! You seem to forget the situation that we are in."

Thomas was taken back by what Francis said.
"I seem to forget the situation, ok".
Thomas quietly strolled into the lab.
"Look at this place; it's a dark, rotting old castle, where the only signs of life are us, and a bunch of monsters that want to kill us. Oh no, wait, the monsters are all in my head, i'm being accused of losing my mind!"
Thomas walked around a little more, in no particular direction.
"I hate this entire situation, Francis! I don't forget it, I try and try to put it away in my mind but I can't!"
Thomas' voice had gone cold, "So please, forgive me for trying to have a little joke".
"I'm so sorry to have offended you".

Francis placed his hand lightly on Thomas's shoulder.

"Yes, yes, you're forgiven. We need to be able to trust eachother in this sort of enviroment, so let us agree simply to cease the arguments, eh?"

Thomas smiled, life poured back into his voice.
"Let's make this acid then, eh?"

Francis crossed his arms.

"I'm certainly no chemist. Who here knows their way around these materials?"

"I feel like I should know what to do, but I just can't Imagine what to do, let's have a look at the apparatus".

"Alright, go right ahead then." Francis was a bit eager to be away from the laboratory, simply as being away from the laboratory would bring him one step closer to the exit from the castle. Hopefully.

Thomas walked up to the apparatus and began to fiddle.
"Hmm.. This turns the..wait no....no, this thing turns the gas on, wait...."
Thomas began to be more aggressive in his work
"Oh..... come on you......".
He slapped the tool with his left hand, "Oh, sod it! I'm stuck".
"Your turn". He said to Francis.

"Perhaps this is a terrible idea, but try simply mixing everything together?"

Thomas pulled the ingrediants he had gathered, and put them on the table. He put the laudanum to one side, how could a painkiller be used to make an acid?
"Ok everyone, get the ingrediants you all found".

"Uhh, keep an eye on that grate".
Thomas began to play with the ingrediants,
"We couldn't have left instructions for ourselves, could we?"

Francis felt a distinct tremor of fear as Thomas mentioned the grate, but he moved to it nonetheless. He was obviously quite interested in it, in a negative manner, after his last encounter with the creatures of the castle; he preferred to know immediately should something, anything occur which involved the grate.

"I'll take care of that." Francis once again stood just over the grate, listening carefully with his full attention, wondering if it was connected, most likely via tunnel network, to the previous grate the group had come across.

"Ok, let's do a test". Thomas said.
"I think we should take a small sample of each ingrediant, and just mix them together. Just to see what happens".
Thomas beckoned the group to put the ingrediants into one container.

"Does that look alright?"
Thomas looked at the final solution. It's colour made it look like it was glowing, it lit up his hand with the colour of the acid.
"I guess we'll have to try it out".

Francis spoke from his position over the grate.

"What do you mean by try it out?"

"On the red stuff, of course! That's what we made it for, to get past it".
Thomas grinned, "Unless you want to Voulenteer".

Francis neglected to answer the remark, instead making his own statement.

"Alright, then! Let us continue, I say." He began to step from over the grate, intending for the group to go on the move once again.

"I hope this works, otherwise we're traped here".
Thomas walked over to the door, intending to pass through to the enterance hall.
