Amnesia: The Dark Descent (Thriller/Horror RP)

"Ricky, what's in there?"
"You're lucky there wasn't something dangerous".
Thomas walked further into the room, he shouted back to the group.
"There's two corridors, one is a dead end, and another goes around the corner".
Thomas stepped into the dead end corridor. He noticed the bottle, and he picked it up.

Nothing else looks remotely interesting in the room, and indeed, the longer he looks, the more disturbing it gets; it's as though several men were blown to pieces, torn flesh and rotting innards hanging from a table.

One eerie feature is that, from the flies surrounding the remains, it seems the flesh is at least several days old.

As Thomas picks up the bottle, something would click in his brain, and he would recall it as being laudanum, a liquid pain killer, good enough for lessening wounds, should they garner any.

A moment after this, though, there is a pained, labored grunt in the distance. At the other end of the hallway, in front of the corner, Thomas can see a large, misshapen humanoid figure.

There are few places to hide, save behind the bookshelf.

Thomas looked at the bottle, "Laudanum". He said to himself.
He heard a grunt from behind, there was a large disfigured humanoid standing in the corridor opposite.
"Oh S***". Thomas put out his lantern and looked across the dark room, he noticed a gap behind the large bookcase and he jumped behind it.
He tucked himself in as close to the bookcase as he could, he closed his eyes and slowed his breathing.

The figureappears very real.

It approaches only about 20 feet away, before it heaves another low moan and turns, shambling in the other direction, and into the mist.

Seeing nothing else he covered his nose as best he could and stepped carefully out of the room, the smell making him feel nearly sick despite the precaution. Outside the room he looked around and couldn't see Thomas anywhere.

"Thomas, where'd you go? Find something?" He took the note out and started reading it as he walked towards the room where Thomas had gone before. "I found another note, and some kind of bottle."

Thomas opened his eyes and looked out from across the book case, it had gone.
He quickly got up and dashed out into the main room.

The entire main room is covered with a thin mist that makes it a bit difficult to see.

There is a soft hissing coming from the ground, as a few roaches scurry around the floorboards.

"Guys, there's something in there, in the right corridor".
Thomas re-lit his lantern
"It's was huge and deformed, a monster".
Fear had gripped Thomas and it sent chills all over him.
But he still wanted to go back, to find out what that thing was.

Thomas began to walk back, "I'm going to have another look".

"Really?" William chuckled. "A monster!? Incredible! Did you speak with this monster? Did he have any good stories to tell?"

He laughed and held his lantern above his head, looking at the cieling. "Imaginary monsters are the least of our problems. Look at this mist. The hissing...the roaches..."

As if in reply, the ground shakes again...very violently, almost enough to knock one off one's feet. A bit of the red organic slime oozes out from the walls, not reaching the floor, but beginning to unnervingly pulse.

As Thomas returns to the hallway, there is no trace of anything dangerous...yet.

Thomas walked back to Ricky, "Here, take this, it's Laudaum. A pain killer, I found it in the room".
Thomas walked back into the room opposite the stairs, he slowed his pace as he reached the right corridor.
He tilted his body around the corner.

William frowned. "Now look what you've done, Thomas!" he hissed, sounding somewhat serious. "You've angered the castle! Instead of telling each other horror stories, perhaps we should move on. This region is obviously not safe."

Around the corner lies another shelf, this time with what appear to be empty containers and bottles lying both smashed and precariously balanced on it.

One in particular stands out, a narrow flask with a dark brown liquid inside, in a similar shape to the bottle Ricky found. It has a narrow label around its middle.

"No, not yet. We're not done looking yet. I'm going to have a look in that room next to the staircase."

Ricky paused before moving on and read the note he'd taken from the room before.

Thomas leaned back from the corner.
"Don't you go blaming me!" he said in a loud whisper to William.
"Maybe it's you being a git that's annoying it!"
Thomas turned back around to the right corridor, this time he walked further in.
His pace was almost at a dead stop.

Nothing is terribly unusual in this room, besides a few blood stains on the floor, and a few broken bottles of wine.

The bottle wobbles a little on the shelf as the ground shakes gently.

The note Ricky found reads as follows;

My name is Wilhelm, house of Gerich. These are my final words, my confession and testament. Two years ago I was summoned to the castle Brennenburg. As most of the aristocracy, I was curious about what this supposed knight of the Order could want from me and accepted the invitation. The baron was friendly and offered me a proposition.

It dawned on me that the nature of the contract was sordid and that the reason I was chosen was because of the follies of my past and not the honors I've been rewarded with during my time as a soldier. I was to kidnap healthy humans upon his slightest whim and do so without asking questions. In return he would attest to my character at the royal court, advancing my position within noble society. I would like to claim that I struggled with my decision, but it came swiftly and I accepted wholeheartedly.

Ever since that day I've brought men, women, and children to Brennenburg. I can't remember the numbers, but there were many, perhaps even a hundred. None of whom were ever seen or heard from again.

Tonight the baron invited me and my men down to the wine cellar to celebrate our work. I had my suspicions as we descended the stairs, but he insisted and joined us in a toast. The wine tasted fine and my men drank without restraint.

So begins the punishment for our sins. The baron has locked us up and returned upstairs. Forgive me for what I have done. I was weak and fell into his diabolic ways. My men are screaming, their skin has been pierced by their own tangled bones. I feel my insides revolt against their God given nature. Blood has begun to pour from my eyes and I can no longer...

"A git!? You claim to see deformed monsters that magically disappear into the darkness. I believe the darkness is getting to your mind."

William passed Thomas and approached the bookshelf. He carefully picked up the narrow flask and read the label.

Thomas left the right corridor and went back into the main room.
"Maybe git was to nicer word for him". He said to himself in an elevated voice.

"Gentlemen, I beg your pardon for this, but please shut up. Bickering won't help anyone. Besides, I suggest you read this."

Ricky held the note out for whomever would take it and waited solemnly.

"Let's see".
He held the lantern up high so he could read.

The door next to the staircase creaks open gently as Thomas reads the note.

Thomas dashed out of the door's line off sight within a fraction of it creaking open.
He crouched down and began to quickly read the note.
