She broadened her smile and shook her head before attempting to find their way to where she last saw Invictus. She wondered where he kept all his paper

Alida and Cato

The pair had no idea where Invictus was, of course, so their best guess was to either backtrack Alida's route and go from there, or go in a random direction, either left, back towards where they had caught the demon, or right, a new direction, to search for him.

Riva, Timon, Imhotep

The demoness spat at Riva.

"Like you aren't going to do that anyway!" she said. "I ain't telling you genocidal nutters anything, the full of lies you've been fed.

"What lies?" Imhotep asked.

Riva emotionlessly wiped the spit from her face. Somewhat amusingly, it left a patch of pale skin clean of soot.

She waited for her to answer the question.

Riva, Imhotep and Timon

"Go ask your boss about that. I can't be arsed to tell you anything. Why should I tell you anything? I don't get any of your knowledge!"

She sounded more and more like an overly sarcastic five-year-old.

"And just wait: One day you'll regret being bad to the Invidii."

Cato looked around, not sure which way to go, and not really caring. "Which way?" he wrote.

Alida decided the only real hope would be to retrace her steps to where she separated from Invictus and from there go in the direction she last saw him go in. She knew that realistically they were unlikely to find him, but if he got into trouble with the giant they might at least hear word of it spreading through the market. She gestured the direction with her hand before continuing.

Cato followed close behind Alida, not wanting to get separated.

"Answers for answers." Riva stated. "You say we withhold information? I will tell you the truth of anything you ask me, demon."

"Normally I wouldn't advise any form of... advanced interrogation..." Timon said. "But if you were to hurt the demon, I can heal it."

"No!" Imhotep nearly shouted. "No hurting!" He held his hands out, making himself a barrier between Timon and Pumbah the demoness.

Cato and Alida

Within ten minutes, the duo found themselves back at the junction where Alida had left Invictus, finding no trace of him. The tall giant man was talking with a man looking related to him a bit past the junction, looking rather relieved.

Timon, Riva and Imhotep

The demoness stuck her tongue out at Riva.

"Your answers first then!" she hissed. "Why should you get mine if I ain't got yours!"

Alida led Cato to a stool and began pretending to look at its wares. "Can you see the giant man with the red hair over there?" she whispered, nodding in his direction as she did so "that was who Invictus was following".

"Ask away." Riva said intently.

Riva, Timon and Imhotep

The demoness made a jeering face at Riva once more, before launching into her tirade:

"Why can't I be in the sun? Why do you hog it? WHy do you kick us? Aren't we down already? What have I have done to you to deserve not getting all the stuff you get? You have everyting. We have nothing. Why do You get everything? And why do You rub it in our faces like that?"

Cato nodded. "I see him. But I don't see Invictus anywhere."

Alida looked up at the merchant whose stool they were stood at "Excuse me?" she asked politely.

"Because we don't understan your plight, I imagine." Riva said with a hint of dry sarcasm.

Alida and Cato

The shopkeeper looked up.

"Yes?" he said chipperly, leaning forward.

Riva, Timon and Imhotep

"Ooh," the demoness said. "Good answer."

"Not. I'm not telling you anything, you genocidal maniacs."

Invictus

"I'd let you stay in the sun if I could," Imhotep said to the demoness.

"There's a chance I might, too." Riva said plaintively. "You certainly don't seem evil. However, I really don't know enough to say..."

She raised her eyebrows.

Timon frowned and fiddled with his thumbs. "I um, have some food on me." He fished around in his pocket for a tan bag. "Some sweets. You can have them, if you listen to Riva." Timon was very much out of ideas and hoping they didn't have candy where she came from.

"Do you know anything about that big red haired man over there?" she asked indicating the direction with her big gentle green eyes.

Riva, Imhotep and Timon

"I'm not a child, Fatlegs," the demoness hissed. "I only get your pity anyway. Go throw me back in my hole. You've been doing that for so long anyways."

Alida and Cato

"Why, that's the Heptarch of the Caritas!" the shopkeeper said. "And his brother. Always walking around down here. Like to talk to people."

Alida cursed herself for not voicing her earlier suspicions "Thank you". Not knowing how to proceed, she turned to Cato hoping that maybe he would know what to do.
