"No worries, I got it"

Lucas put six gold pieces on the table.

As Lucas reached into his pocket he realised there was no money in his pocket, all of his money was on the ship.

Vex willed the cricket to life and it leaped onto her shoulder. She smiled as she patted it. "Thank you, sir!" she said as she bowed.
Exiting and going to the market, she held a small conversation with the cricket. "Good to know that I have someone to talk to, huh?" she said. "I think I'll name you 'Hops'. For lack of a better name." she added, heading over to stalls to browse what there was to buy.

The cricket did indeed come to life, but only just, she would have to concentrate much harder and attune her mystical magic skills much more if she were to do this with more prominent constructs.

There was a food stall, a trinkets stall, a small weaponry stall and a book stall, the market wasn't particularly busy today.

Ben approached the weapon stall examining the merchandise. "Is there anything you have that can pack a bigger punch than this ?" Ben asked holding up his musket.

Vex approached the book stall, peeing over the wares.

The book stall was covered in old books, of all genres, geographical, political, murder mystery, fantasy, all the usual.

The woman at the weapon stall spat on the ground, "I've got an old Lothian Musket, that'd do the job".

Vex promptly grabbed one of the mystery novels. One of the things she loved to do was try to figure out the solution to the mystery before it was revealed.
"How much for this one?" she asked the stall keeper, waving the book.

"Three pieces my dear", the person who owned the stall was an old man sitting on an old rocking chair smoking a pipe in the darkness.

"Deal." She said with a smile, reaching into her pocket.
"Wait... Oh, where did I put my...?" she said, feeling nothing. She smacked her forehead as she remembered her folly of leaving her money on the ship.
"Sorry. I forgot my money." she said, putting the book back down.

The party would have to retrieve their money from the ship if any of them wanted to pay for anything.

Jason looked at the Barman and said; "It appears I left my money on the ship we came in. Will you mind if I go retrieve it?" He asked, but then quickly added; "The ship leaves for Kimmit in a couple of hours so I won't leg it that way, my name is Jasonn Henndly if you want to send guards after me. Also, I'm a army veteran so I won't break the law."

Cornelius went back to the ship to retrieve his money.

Ben looked at the Musket, it wasn't very impressive but it would do the job, He began looking through his pocket for the pieces necessary to purchase but came up empty handed. "I'm sorry ma'am but I seem to have misplaced my money." Ben said frowning "Perhaps we can agree to a trade."

Vex followed the others, humming along the way.

The group could hear people talking in the lower deck, they didn't sound like they were planning anything nice.

Vex immediately stopped and held her hand out, letting everyone know to be quiet.

She closed her eyes and held a hand up to her ear, using her magic to optimize her hearing, trying to hear what they were saying.

Vex could hear ('-'s are unheard):

"Shut --, ----'ll hear us --- idiot!"

"I'm --st saying w-th the go-- we will be able to haul our-elves a lot in --mmitt".

The old woman had refused Ben's offer of trade, forcing him to go back to the ship and get money. Walking back to were he had stashed his things he found Vex with her eyes closed seemingly trying to Eavesdrop on a group of people "What are the saying ?" Ben whispered to her quietly

Vex's eyes widened. If only she could hear more!

She turned to the group, a look of worry on her face. She lifted a finger, the tip of it glowing, and wrote "They are planning something below." in the air with magic, doing so to avoid making any sound. With another swipe of her hand, the message dissipated from the air.
