The girl looked at Naomi for a long moment before, with a great deal of hesitation and uncertainty that reflected in her face, lifting a palm and offering her a very unsure and very tiny wave.

Spoiler:
They're introducing themselves and wondering where the hell we are.

Let's introduce ourselves.

"Ze introduceren zichzelf en hebben geen idee waar we zijn," said Dayton, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "Laten we ons even voorstellen" He grabbed Annette's hand and walked over to Roman and the others. "Hi, I'm Dayton. This is Annette. She doesn't speak English, so I'll be her translator."

Annette gave the others a small wave and a half-smile, with an apologetic shrug.

Roman nodded. He looked at the opening in the ceiling and pointed at the opening. "Maybe we could try getting up there somehow." said Roman.

Max gave the pair a slight nod: "Hi." He sigh and continued: "This seems bad."

Pete followed Roman's gaze, noticing the opening on the ceiling for the first time. "Nobody's getting up there unless they're Bruce Wayne, or... never mind, spoiler alert," he said grimly.

"What do you mean? Who?" asked Roman.

Roman? What kind of name is that? At least he speaks English. the boy thought. He joined the others as well. "I'm James. And yeah, who do you mean?"

Naomi waved back numbly. She looks almost as confused as I feel. she thought grimly.

Feeling quite overwhelmed, she took the necessary steps over to the table and collapsed into a chair.

Pete gave Roman and James a wide-eyed stare. "Are you saying you haven't seen The Dark Knight Rises?" he asked them incredulously. "Man, it was everywhere this summer! I can't believe you missed it."

Watching Naomi leave, the girl looked dejected, and let her eyes follow as she moved to the table in the middle of the room. She hesitated, turning her attention toward the chatting men, and toward Dayton and Annette. She offered them the same nervous wave.

The man with the golden gun mole glanced around the room. He offered a brief smile to the teenager.

Annette smiled at the waving girl, and waved back. She felt somewhat better knowing that nobody knew why they were there, but not being able to understand what was being said was making her visibly uncomfortable.

The one who had recently run off into the bathroom and groaned and screamed, came out of of the stall, and into the main bathroom. He began counting prime numbers in his head, he began to calm down.

He walked out of the bathroom, and traveled over to a corner, where he stood and observed people closely. He stared at each person for about five minutes, most likely nerving the people.

Dayton noticed the girl waving at them, and waved back. When he saw the watch on his wrist a thought hit him: How long have we been here?

"Guys," he started. "There are more important things than Batman to discuss here. Questions that need answered. How long have we been here? My petunias could be struggling for their life this very minute! And-" Dayton managed to stop himself from losing himself in flower talk.

"Sorry, I've been in space." said Roman. "I was planning on seeing it when I got back home." He looked at Dayton. "No idea."

"Nope, haven't had a chance to see it yet. Anybody ever get bit by a mutant spider, by any chance?" James said, knowing there was no hope to get out of here. "Petunia's are important than Batman? What planet are you from?" he told Dayton.

Seeing Annette's smile, the girl offered one of her own that was short lived when she noticed the man with the creepy mole and Dayton, who was now talking enthusiastically. She looked at him and the others quizzically and seemed to turn a bit pale, and began to wave her hands frantically before herself, looking almost as uncomfortable as Annette. Please! she begged them, hoping one was at least a mind reader.

"I guess Dayton's right, although Batman is pretty important," Pete said. "I am worried about what'll happen to my store if I'm gone for long..."

"I love Batman as much as the next guy, but lives are at stake here. Not even the Caped Crusader takes priority over life itself."

Annette saw the girl's frantic waving, and walked over to her. "I don't speak English," she offered, immediately, but looked at the girl with concern.

James laughed. "You mean the lives of your petunias? Cus no offense, but I'm not worried about them." he walked over to the wall, looking for some sort of button or something, that could open a door, and maybe get them out.

The girl looked at Annette as she approached, looking torn between being relieved and breaking down into nervous sobs. She began to move her hands and then, halfway through, stopped, pointing toward her lips and then her ears. She shook her head furiously.

Today was supposed to be my chance to sleep in, thought a woman angrily as she fought to shut out the noises that surrounded her. Once she awoke fully, however, she realized something was wrong. Very wrong. She twitched in surprise and sat bolt upright in her bed. Somebody is talking about petunias? she wondered, staring at her surroundings. Despite her confusion, she couldn't help thinking how much she disliked petunias, the stickiness of their stems, their pathetic sprawling form, and their constant need of deadheading. The [&@%!] loves her petunias, doesn't she, she thought with irritation.

Then, she gave another start, this one of recognition. "Emily!" she cried out, knowing the girl whose name she called couldn't hear her. She jumped out of bed and scrambled into the girl's line of sight with a quick wave.
