I don't think it could hurt anything to look around a bit more, said James.

Gamma Team started searching for any items that may help them. James walked around to the back of the small structure when he saw something that looked like an old PC DVD drive sitting against the building. Hey, guys! Check this out! he shouted as he picked it up. The rest of the commandos went to see why James shouted. Shortly afterward, Gary said, Hey... I know what that is. It's an armor upgrade kit!

Item Gained: 1 Armor Upgrade Kit

You can:

» Continue searching
» Enter the base

Let's get moving now, said Gary

Just a quick question, is it possible we could get ambushed if we go searching?

Lets go inside, I'm getting tired of searching, James suggested to his squad mates.

Again, sorry about the delay. :(

Gamma Team walked into the outpost. The building turned out to be little more than an elevator. The two options for floors were both written in a bar code, obviously meant for only the robots to be able to use. Cruncher pressed the bottom one, and the door closed, followed by the elevator descending. In just seconds, they were at the base, and the door opened up. Inside, there were two sentries walking aimlessly in the main room, with another at what appeared to be a reception desk.

The four people walked out of the elevator and up to the desk, where all three robots pointed their weapons at the commandos. The bot at the desk said, State your business, humans. Don't try anything stupid, either.

You can:

» [Speech] Attempt to convince the robots that you're IRPMC employees
» [Hacking] Attempt to use a manual shutdown protocol on the bots
» [Stealth] Try to take out all three bots with a sneaky strike
» Engage the robots in normal combat

Nobody has speech or hacking skills... yet. You can learn them, just not right now.

Uhhh... well... Gary tried to lie to the robots about what they were doing there. He wasn't trying to make something convincing, but something long. Long enough for everyone else to ready their weapons and strike. James pulled out his skateboard behind his back, while Cruncher slipped his hand into his coat, where he was storing his fusion pistol. At the same time, Malivia grabbed her concealed mace, ready to throw it.

Then, as if it had been masterfully planned, (even though it wasn't) James used his skateboard as a club and bashed the desk robot's head with such force that it came clean off and hit the opposite wall while still airborne. Just as the bot's head hit the wall, one of the sentries found a large metal object inside it -- Malivia's mace. It caved in the mechanoid's main reactor. Seconds later, after the mace had fallen out, the reactor exploded, cleaving the robot's upper chest, shoulders, arms, and head and sending them all airborne as the legs and lower torso fell to the ground. The second guard barely had time to fire once before it was struck in the face by Cruncher's fusion pistol. This stunned it long enough for him to run up and bash the machine's skull in, causing sritical damage to its central processor unit.

=========

Success!

Cruncher got 15 XP.
Gary got 5 XP.
Gary got one skill point.
James got 15 XP.
Malivia got 15 XP.

=========

The three robots have been destroyed. It wasn't until now that the group got a good look at the room they were in.

The reception desk looked like it along with the hallway it was in were carved from a huge block of steel. The desk had a single computer screen on it, which was still functioning perfectly fine. The computer terminal showed this. (picture)

You can:

» [Hacking] Go to the computer and try to shut down security systems
» Search the main hallway and reception desk
» Advance in the area and find a way to easily destroy the outpost

Yay! A skill point! When can I use it?

Now, let's carry on with our mission, suggested Gary.

You can use it when you get back to base. You got it for using one of the skills you can learn, which, in this case, would be speech.

I sorta feel like searching a bit of this room, said James.

Ah, I guess that's why Gary sucked at it

Well, I guess we could, Gary replied to James.

The team decided to look around. They hadn't searched for more than ten seconds when they all saw a first aid kit hanging on the wall for no reason. They thought nothing of it and took it down.

Item Gained: 1 First Aid Kit

You can:

» [Hacking] Go to the computer and try to shut down security systems
» Continue to search the main hallway and reception desk
» Advance in the area and find a way to easily destroy the outpost

A first aid kit can be used in or out of battle to restore 70% of the target's max health, provided you don't try to use it on a robot.
