A friendly poll regarding roleplays

Fri Sep 03, 2010 1:52 pm

A simple question here. How many of you agree with having sign up threads for new roleplays and then having separate threads for the roleplays themselves? There isn't really a rule that says you can't make them, but it's always hinted that they aren't wanted on this site.

I find that the majority of roleplays with separate sign up threads on other sites do better than ones with only one single thread. And it's been done a few time here. What do you think?

I personally am not a big fan of them. I think wiping the thread and posting the character sheets in the OP is a better idea - it's cleaner and more easier to use that way.

There are pros and cons that go with each of them. If you do create a sign up thread, it will clutter the forum and create a bit of confusion. But it will also make the roleplay itself more clean, keeping all OOC discussion in another thread instead of slicing the roleplay apart with spoiler tags or other methods off-topic posting.

I find them kind of annoying, People can join the roleplay on the main thread, and Their Chars can keep getting added to the OP

I like them. They keep the main thread clean, and if you think they're that bad, just make it a rule that they have to be deleted once the Role-play has started.

Except that only mods can delete posts if there are other posts in front of them.

First, what Blue says is a good idea.

Secondly, we can delete any posts at all. ]

Thirdly, I like having a place to sign up first, it does make the main thread kep cleaner.
